Mountain Safety Research® Partners with the American Mountain Guides Association

May 16, 2018

The new partnership will allow guides to test MSR products in development and influence product advancement

SEATTLE, Wash. (May 16, 2018) – Mountain Safety Research® (MSR®), the Seattle-based high-performance outdoor equipment brand, recently announced their newest partnership with the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA). This partnership will enhance MSR’s already rigorous product testing process by including AMGA guides at the forefront of product development.

“This is an exciting partnership for the AMGA,” said Executive Director Alex Kosseff. “It gives our Instructor Team Members the chance to offer input on key equipment they use on a daily basis. And it gives both MSR and the AMGA the chance to work together to develop and fine tune the most widely used equipment for American mountain guides.”

The AMGA inspires and supports a culture of American mountain craft, providing world-class and internationally recognized education, training and certification to aspiring and professional guides. With hundreds of years of collective experience, the AMGA is the leading organization of America’s most vibrant, inspiring community of climbers and skiers.

Through the new partnership, MSR will provide financial support for AMGA programs and an MSR discount for AMGA guides and members. MSR will also promote AMGA services to its U.S. audience. Finally, AMGA guides will test MSR products in development and provide early feedback.

“At MSR, we are already diligent about our testing, with layers of intense testing, both in the lab and the field for all of our products, and this partnership greatly enhances our existing process,” said Sarah Courtney, category manager, MSR Snow and Alpine Tools.

MSR is also proud to partner with other organizations committed to educating the public on safe and respectful recreation in the backcountry. A few of these organizations include Alpine Mentors, American Alpine Club, The Conservation Alliance, European Outdoor Conservation Association, Outdoor Industry Association, Utah Avalanche Center and Winter Wildlands Alliance SnowSchool. MSR will offer a range of gear and financial contributions.
