Berghaus and Long Beach Rising Team Up for Community Climbing Day

July 29, 2026

The event raised more than $6 thousand dollars to help create opportunities for kids of all backgrounds to experience the joys of climbing.

Long Beach, Calif. (July 29, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ Berghaus, the storied British outdoor brand, joined forces with Long Beach Rising on July 18 to gather the community for a free day of climbing and to raise money for radical inclusion in a sport known for high barriers to entry.

Before the climbing gym doors had opened, a line formed around the block, and by the end of the day, over 250 climbers had come by to boulder, attempt the bounty climbs, grab a screen-printed tee from local artists, and browse the Berghaus sample sale.

One hundred percent of the sample sale proceeds went to All Rise Outdoors—a nonprofit organization from Brain Dead, rock climber Ashima Shiraishi, and Long Beach Rising—dedicated to DEI in climbing and the outdoors. The event raised more than $6 thousand dollars to help create opportunities for kids of all backgrounds to experience the joys of climbing.

“A day to remember. We had an absolute blast hosting Berghaus and raising over $6K+ in funds for All Rise Outdoors!” says Grayston Leonard, founder and owner of Long Beach Rising. “Thank you so much for coming out. Thank you Berghaus. 10/10 would do it again.”

For a brand built on six decades of alpinism and mountaineering credentials, the event marked something new: Berghaus tuning into a younger, more urban generation of climbers and using the day to sharpen a fresh identity in North America, one that speaks directly to the rising talent shaping the culture in major U.S. cities.

With its new U.S. headquarters based in Long Beach, Berghaus strives to support the local community through collaborative events like this one—a hint at what’s to come.

“The turnout was incredible and the energy was high, with climbers on the wall all day and a nonstop line for the screen printing despite the heat,” says Alexis Baden, Berghaus’s U.S. Marketing Manager. “The event was a powerful moment for brand awareness and community engagement in our very own neighborhood. We’re excited to build off of this momentum.”
