Global Conservation Leader Appointed to Federal Hunting and Shooting Council

September 25, 2026

Origins Foundation founder Dr. Robbie Kröger brings global hunting, wildlife conservation and scientific experience to national advisory role

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 25, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — Dr. Robert “Robbie” Kröger, a conservation scientist whose work examines and documents the role of hunting and sustainable use in wildlife conservation around the world, has been appointed by the U.S. Department of the Interior to the Hunting and Shooting Sports Conservation and Access Council.

Kröger will serve as a primary member representing wildlife-associated recreation interests. The council advises the federal government through the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture on wildlife and habitat conservation, hunting and shooting sports, conservation partnerships and public access to hunting and shooting opportunities.

As founder and executive director of The Origins Foundation, Kröger leads a global conservation organization focused on sustainable use and the relationships among hunting, wildlife, habitat and communities. Origins supports conservation projects and partners across multiple countries and continents while documenting the conservation outcomes associated with responsibly managed wildlife use.

“Hunting and conservation have always been deeply connected,” Kröger said. “Around the world, we see what can happen when wildlife has value, communities have a stake in its future and conservation decisions are grounded in science. I’m honored to bring those experiences to the council and contribute to conversations about the future of hunting and wildlife conservation in the United States.”

Kröger’s career combines field conservation with academic and federal scientific experience. Prior to The Origins Foundation, he served as the first chief scientist of the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council. He also served as a professor in Mississippi State University’s Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture.

The Origins Foundation’s work spans wildlife conservation, sustainable hunting, habitat protection, community benefits and conservation storytelling around the world.

The Department of the Interior announced Kröger’s appointment Sept. 21.
