Olympic Silver Medalist Gus Schumacher Signs With Fischer Skis for 2026-2027 Season

AUBURN, N.H (July 8, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Fischer Skis US proudly introduces 2026 Olympic Silver Medalist, Gus Schumacher as the newest member of their racing team. For the upcoming 2026-2027 season Schumacher will be using Fischer’s Speedmax skis and boots for all of his training and racing. “We are thrilled to welcome Gus to the Fischer Race Family,” remarks Fischer Skis US Nordic Race Director, Chris Hall. “With Gus choosing Fischer as his new equipment sponsor, we’ve added an Olympic Medalist, World Cup winner and a passionate, committed cross country ski racer to the roster.”

Born in Wisconsin, and raised primarily in Alaska, Schumacher trains at the Alaska Pacific University (APU). His decorated cross-country skiing career includes a gold medal at the Junior World Ski Championships in 2020, a gold medal at the 2024 Stifel Loppet World Cup in Minneapolis in the 10km freestyle race, and most recently a silver medal in the team sprint at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

“Fischer’s consistency in so many conditions is something that really appeals to me,” comments Schumacher, adding: ”I also loved the feeling they gave me when I tested this spring. I feel like my technique, in both skate and classic, is really enhanced while using Fischer skis and boots.”

Outside of ski racing Schumacher is passionate about preserving winter, and is an active member of Protect Our Winters (POW) through the organization’s Athlete Alliance. In 2022 he travelled to Washington D.C. with POW and testified before congress, addressing the impact climate change is having on skiing and other winter sports.
