Rocky Talkie Launches Acoustic Headsets for Clear, Discreet Communication in the Field

August 31, 2026

New accessory line pairs with the Rocky Talkie adventure radio lineup, giving hunters, production crews and event teams a quieter way to stay connected

DENVER, CO (August 31, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Rocky Talkie, the Colorado-based maker of backcountry radios, today launched two new Acoustic Headsets, an accessory line built to keep radio communication clear and quiet. The line pairs with Rocky Talkie’s existing radios to offer: Acoustic Headset for Expedition Radio and Acoustic Headset for Mountain Radio.

Since 2019, Rocky Talkie has built radios trusted by hunters, film crews, and event teams, all of whom face the same problem: one ill-timed radio call can derail the whole moment. On a hunt, it can spook game. During production, it can compromise a live shot. The Acoustic Headsets remedy this by keeping comms clear and isolated to your ears only.

Each headset comes as a complete earpiece solution, ready to connect with your respective Rocky Talkie adventure radio. They are the perfect blend of comfort with a braided nylon tubing that sits over either ear and durability with an aramid fiber-reinforced lower cable built to survive years of hard use. All backed by a splashproof/snowproof IP56 waterproof rating. The included Fit Kit and travel case enable on-the-go customization with four interchangeable eartips to dial in your perfect acoustic seal and comfort level.

The Acoustic Headset for Expedition Radio adds a fully waterproof seal at the M3 connection point, matching the radio’s own water resistance. The Acoustic Headset for Mountain Radio connects to any K1-equipped radio. With both headsets, the radio itself no longer has to sit at the shoulder or chest. It can clip to a pack strap or chest rig for better antenna positioning, while the cable’s mounting clip keeps the push-to-talk button and mic within easy reach.

“Most headsets for walkie-talkies use low-quality materials and are not well optimized for clear audio. We wanted to make something that our customers could rely on for years, with durability and clarity that works for a range of activities and environments. We saw the need for a headset that could be used in both quiet hunts and noisy offroad adventures,” said Alex Page, co-founder and head of product at Rocky Talkie. “Our new Acoustic Headsets are the perfect combination of low-profile, versatile, and durable.”

This is exactly why director Jon Glassberg of Louder than 11 studios and director-producer of Rocky Talkie’s Buried Alive: 4 Days in a Snow Cave video opts for Rocky Talkie products. They keep up across remote, demanding locations.

“Rocky Talkie radios are already an essential tool on our productions. The new headset makes them even better for filmmaking, providing clear crew communication without radio chatter disrupting the action,” added Glassberg.

Acoustic Headset for Expedition Radio (MSRP $60) and Acoustic Headset for Mountain Radio (MSRP $55) are available now at RockyTalkie.com. You can purchase the headsets individually or as a kit shipped with up to two Expedition or Mountain Radios and the corresponding model and number of headsets.
