The four-pound Happy Caveman Campfire delivers coal-like radiant heat, and runs where wood fires are banned

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — August 18, 2026 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Happy Caveman’s Kickstarter campaign for its radiant propane campfire has surpassed 573 percent of its funding goal in six days, drawing 162 backers and $57,329 in pledges. The launch was fueled by organic social media content that reached more than 11 million video views across platforms in two weeks.

The Happy Caveman™ Campfire departs from conventional fire-pit design by burning inside a vertical stainless steel tube rather than an open bowl. A restrictor plate slows exhaust flow, holding heat against the tube wall until the steel glows and emits short-wave infrared radiation comparable to a bed of wood coals. ThermaFlux™ channels cut through the tube wall direct hot exhaust outward at seated body level rather than venting it upward.

The campaign has run largely on organic reach, drawing over 11 million views in two weeks with minimal paid promotion.

The product also speaks to tightening fire restrictions across the Western United States, where Stage 1 and Stage 2 orders increasingly prohibit wood campfires for months at a time. Most such orders exempt propane appliances with a shut-off valve, because they throw no embers and extinguish instantly.

The campfire is built from SS304 stainless steel and 360 brass, with fabrication, assembly, and testing performed at the company’s California facility. Happy Caveman designates the product “Assembled in USA of US and imported parts.” The product is Patent Pending. Founder, Nate Sargent, is a mechanical engineer and named inventor on more than 200 patents.
