Snap Two Ski Opens “Summer Showdown” Game Contest with $1,250 in Prizes

A free, SkiFree-inspired browser game keeps families connected to skiing through the off-season — and shows off the tether that started it all

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (June 17, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — Snap Two Ski, the Minnesota maker of the ankle-mounted ski tether that helps parents teach young kids to ski, today opened its first Summer Showdown — a free, month-long contest on the brand’s browser-based Snap Two Ski Slope Game. It runs June 17 through July 17, 2026.

Anyone who grew up on the 1991 PC classic SkiFree will find the game instantly familiar — the same top-down mountain and the same dodge-everything-including-the-yeti energy. The twist is that the solo skier is now a tethered parent and child bombing the hill together, dodging trees, moose, foxes, and the occasional abominable snowman. The mechanic mirrors the real product’s benefit: control and confidence on snow.

Every score posted during the Showdown counts as a contest entry, with up to ten entries a day. Prizes total $1,250 across five categories:

• 1st — Highest score: $500, plus a tether and swag pack
• 2nd — Runner-up: Fischer One ski boots (winner’s size), plus a tether
• 3rd — Third place: $150, plus a tether and swag pack
• Most Yetis Dodged: a tether and swag for the best single run
• The “999th Skier”: $250 for whoever lands in 999th place on the final leaderboard

The Snap Two Ski Tether was invented more than 25 years ago by Pam “Pizza Pam” Farmer as part of the Hot Cocoa Club, a parent-child ski program in Minnesota’s Twin Cities that has introduced thousands of families to skiing. Unlike harness systems, it connects at the ankles, so kids move naturally while the adult manages speed and safety. The company is now run by Andrew Reinhart, a dad of three and PSIA Level 3 certified instructor.

“Teaching my own kids to ski was equal parts magic and chaos. The tether turned the chaos into something we all loved, and the game keeps that feeling going in the off-season,” said Reinhart. “Once people started asking how to beat each other’s scores, the Summer Showdown pretty much wrote itself.”
