Tourism Company Takes on Trump Administration Over National Park Fees
September 29, 2026
An Arizona tour operator, Across Arizona Tours, is suing the Trump administration over higher national-park fees for non-U.S. visitors. The policy charges international visitors $250 for the annual America the Beautiful pass—versus $80 for U.S. residents—and adds a $100-per-person surcharge at 11 major parks, including Grand Canyon, Zion, Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Glacier.
The company says the fees have discouraged overseas customers, cost it bookings, and forced tour operators to verify visitors’ residency. Its lawsuit argues that the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act permits agencies to set fees but does not authorize pricing based on residency; federal officials have 60 days to respond.
