Leave No Trace Launches Earth Month 2026 With a New Pledge and a National Campaign

March 24, 2026

All donations during April earn a chance to win one of 10 gear packages from Fjällräven

Boulder, CO. (March 24, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – This April, Leave No Trace is turning Earth Month into a call for investment in our planet’s future. The organization is launching a fundraising and pledge drive designed to scale stewardship education across the country. Better yet, Fjällräven will reward 10 lucky giveaway winners with Fjällräven gear packages, each with a retail value of up to $200.

In a landmark year, these efforts will help fund new educational resources for America’s 250th, a partnership with the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service to honor the nation’s semiquincentennial through conservation.

“Earth Month is about more than just appreciation; it’s about active contribution,” says Leave No Trace executive director Dana Watts. “Our community provides the resources necessary to protect these fragile ecosystems as we celebrate the planet and head into a historic year for American public lands.”

Powering Protection Through Your Support

While awareness is the first step, funding is the engine that allows Leave No Trace to provide science-based training to millions. This April, we are asking our community to go beyond the pledge and financially invest in the lands we all share.

  • The Impact of Your Gift: A person trained in Leave No Trace is 5 times more likely to protect natural resources. Your donations directly fund the creation of free toolkits, the Subaru-sponsored Traveling Team, and youth programs that ensure our parks remain resilient for another 250 years.
  • The Earth Month Incentive: Each person who makes a one-time or recurring donation in April will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of 10 Fjallraven gear packages (such as a backpack, a hat, and an accessory) for a retail value of up to $200 per winner. Winners will have the chance to choose their preferred colors; items are subject to availability.

Take the Earth Month Pledge

In addition to financial support, Leave No Trace invites everyone to take the 2026 Earth Month Pledge. This digital commitment is a promise to learn, practice, and share stewardship principles. Every participant who signs the pledge will receive:

  1. An exclusive, downloadable Earth Month 2026 celebration graphic.
  2. A shareable link to the “Leave No Trace 101” online course to help spread vital outdoor ethics to friends and family.

Investing in America’s 250th Anniversary

Donations this month also jumpstart Leave No Trace’s yearlong campaign celebrating 250 years of American history. In collaboration with federal partners, Leave No Trace is developing a suite of resources to ensure that as record numbers of visitors head outdoors to celebrate the nation’s milestone, they do so responsibly.

Upcoming 250th Resources Include:

  • The 25,000-Person Goal: A mission to provide formal Leave No Trace training to 25,000 people this year.
  • Youth Engagement: New Junior Ranger-style activity booklets and the “250 Outdoor Challenge.”
  • Community Toolkits: High-impact posters and social media assets for local parks and organizations.
