Pearl Izumi Introduces Versa Collection for Fall 2017

August 2, 2017

Louisville, Colo. (Aug. 2, 2017) – Responding to a growing number of riders who want technical cycling gear that doesn’t look like cycling gear, Pearl Izumi introduces the Versa collection. Versa apparel is designed to be comfortable, versatile and functional on any type of bike, any road or trail, as well as off the bike. Every piece is designed for a minimum one-hour ride. How it’s used though, is up to the rider.

Like all Pearl Izumi apparel, Versa apparel is designed on the bike to optimize comfort and mobility in the riding position. Versa pieces incorporate simple details, like using a fabric’s natural weave orientation to allow the shoulder area to stretch when riding, to create cycling focused fits without complicated construction. Fabrics were chosen with an eye to breathability and weather resistance, with reflective elements placed according to BioViz® standards. Like all Pearl Izumi gear, the Versa line comes with a lifetime warranty.

“Versa is a project that’s been on our minds for a while and it grew pretty organically within our team,” said Alex Strouthopoulos, Senior Product Manager at Pearl Izumi. “With more people cycling in ways that transcend traditional performance road or technical trail riding, we want to make sure that they have options for great looking, fully functioning riding apparel that stays true to what Pearl Izumi is about – quality, durability, comfort, and of course great fit.”

For Fall 2017, the Versa collection consists of 10 pieces:

Versa Polo ($70): This men’s pocket polo offers a relaxed fit with subtle reflective accents, lightweight wicking transfer fabric for optimal moisture management and snap front opening for ventilation.

Versa Short Sleeve Button Up ($85): This lightweight button-up has subtle bike-focused design. Fabric across the shoulders is carefully oriented to provide the necessary stretch for an easy reach to the bars, without added gussets or panels, and the drop tail provides coverage in the bent forward riding position.

Versa Barrier Jacket ($140): This wear-anywhere cool weather jacket is styled for off the bike and perfect on the bike. Versa Barrier fabric with DWR finish provides wind and water resistance with soft hand feel. With hidden hand mitts, under-the-helmet hood and water resistant fabric, it’ll keep you looking good in cool and damp weather.

Versa Quilted Hoodie ($220): This piece is designed to be the favorite, go-to hoodie when the weather gets cold. A mix of softshell, lightweight water-resistant fabrics and Primaloft Gold insulation keep you warm and dry without adding bulk. And the drop tail, reflective features and extra core insulation will keep riders snug when riding.

Versa Short ($100): This versatile short is for riders who want to shred some singletrack or cruise around town and look good getting to their destination. These shorts are full of adventure-worthy features, such as a water-resistant coating to shed precipitation and reflective elements carefully placed to catch a driver’s eye.

Versa Pant ($125): These pants are designed to be comfortable on the bike with features such as reflective elements, water resistance, a gusseted crotch, belt loops and both zippered security and hand pockets.

W Versa Short Sleeve Henley ($65): Riders don’t have to choose between looking good on the bike and getting there comfortably. Reflective elements, a drop tail and wicking fabrics keep you happy while you pedal, and the semi-form fit adds style and versatility.

W Versa Long Sleeve Henley ($75): For cooler days, this long-sleeve shirt is comfortable on the bike, and looks great off the bike. With a drop tail, riders won’t expose their back in a riding position, and the semi-form fit keeps her looking stylish when hanging around town.

W Versa Barrier Jacket ($140): This wear-anywhere, cool-weather jacket features hidden hand mitts, reflective elements and a hood, so riders can venture out even if it might turn wet or cold, without having to carry extra gloves or hats. Versa Barrier fabric with DWR finish provides wind and water resistance with soft hand feel and subtle reflective accents offer visibility.

W Versa Quilted Hoodie ($220): Riders will feel snug and warm to their core during cold, windy weather in the Versa Quilted Hoodie. A mix of soft-shell, lightweight, water resistant fabrics and Primaloft Gold insulation keeps riders warm and dry without adding bulk. Additional versatile features keep riders looking stylish whether they’re pedaling or not.

The Versa collection will be available this September from Pearl Izumi retailers or online at www.pearlizumi.com.
