Berghaus announces new North American retail partnerships

Collaborations with REI, Altitude Sports, and Hatchet Supply anchor U.S. launch

CYPRESS, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Berghaus, the British outdoor brand known for nearly 60 years of innovation in technical apparel and equipment, has announced its North American retail debut through partners REI, Altitude Sports, JD Sports, and Hatchet Outdoor Supply Co., bringing its legacy of performance and distinctive design to North American consumers.

Founded in Newcastle upon Tyne, England in 1966, Berghaus has become synonymous with performance-driven gear trusted by outdoor enthusiasts worldwide. Its U.S. launch marks the brand’s next phase of growth, introducing its products and heritage to new audiences.

To mark its arrival in North America, Berghaus is starting with a focused selection of signature pieces from its Icons collection, spotlighting two of its most celebrated jackets:

  • The Trango Jacket — First issued in 1986 and worn by the first British Expedition to K2, the Trango Jacket became iconic with its 3-layer GORE-TEX construction and distinctive color-blocked design. Embraced by 1990s subcultures and reissued in 2024, the Trango returns in 2025 with new colorways that honor its roots while bringing it to a new generation.
  • The Meru Jacket — First released in 1994 and designed for high-alpine expeditions, the Meru earned cult status in pop culture when Liam Gallagher of Oasis wore it on stage in Oslo in 1997. The Meru has returned in 2025 in its original colorway with updated materials, reviving its no-nonsense attitude and cross-cultural legacy.

Wallace, who has led sales for Fox Racing, Dakine and VF Corporation, will oversee the North American expansion along with teams across California, Colorado, New Mexico, Florida and Canada.

Berghaus plans to build on its North American momentum in 2026 with a broader range of products at retail and expanding its own e-commerce presence in the U.S. and Canada. The expansion will include new additions to its Icons collection as well as pieces from the high-performance Extrem line — gear engineered for rugged, demanding terrain. With these launches, the brand aims to stay true to its legacy of bold design and technical innovation while reaching a new generation of explorers.
