BUFF® and Surfrider Foundation Tap Artist Ian Ross for Summer Collaboration

July 17, 2025

The partnership inspires giving back to the ocean through seasonal artist-designed collections

Santa Rosa (July 17, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ BUFF®, a world leader in headwear and neckwear for outdoor enthusiasts, is excited to share a new collection designed by Ian Ross in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation.

In an effort to inspire change and promote advocacy, BUFF® and Surfrider are working together once again to highlight a new collection, this time, inspired by artist Ian Ross’s iconic sand art. Known for his work across a wide range of mediums—including large-scale murals, abstract paintings, and environmental installations—Ross brings a deep connection to nature and a dynamic creative vision to every project. He approaches his sand art as both a meditation and a collaboration with nature’s ephemeral canvas. For Ross, this process is deeply personal, and each piece is temporary by design—shaped by intention and present intuition, then released to the sea. “There’s no keeping it,” he says, “and that’s the point. It’s about letting go.”

Launched earlier this spring, the collection’s designs and colorways flow effortlessly together and are available in the CoolNet UV® Neckwear, Merino Lightweight Neckwear, Knitted Beanie and the 5 Panel Go Cap. Shades of blue and tan are taken directly from the landscape, and all products in the collection are designed at BUFF®’s headquarters in Barcelona, using 100% renewable energy.

The Surfrider Foundation is an organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves, and beaches for all people through a powerful activist network. Since the ‘80s, they have been working to reduce the quantity of waste entering the marine environment through community education and empowerment, beach cleanups, and advocating for stronger policy protections for our environment.

BUFF® will be donating a portion of the proceeds from this collection to the Surfrider Foundation, helping to support their ongoing efforts to protect the world’s oceans and empower communities through education, advocacy, and action.
