Laura Orvidas, onX CEO, to Deliver Opening Keynote at Outdoor Media Summit on Public Land Advocacy

October 20, 2025

DURANGO, CO /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Outdoor Media Summit (OMS) is thrilled to announce that Laura Orvidas, CEO of onX, will deliver the opening keynote address at OMS on October 28, 2025, detailing how the outdoor community’s unprecedented unity defeated one of the largest public land sell-off attempts in U.S. history. Her presentation will provide a tactical breakdown of the successful bipartisan campaign and reveal strategies for defending public lands against future attacks.

The breakfast keynote at 9:00 AM kicks off Day 2 of the three-day conference with a theme around public lands protection.

From Crisis to Victory: Public Land Sale Proposals
Large scale public land disposals were first introduced into the budget reconciliation process this spring, when the House Natural Resources committee added an amendment putting more than 500,00 acres of public land in Utah and Nevada up for sale. The Senate also attempted to mandate the sale of up to 3.3 million acres of public land in their budget legislation. In both instances, the outdoor community responded with unprecedented vigor. Millions of phone calls and letters flooded Congress.

What made the campaign historically significant was its cross-partisan and cross-user group unity. “Like I’ve never seen before, the community at-large put down their biases and political leanings and stood tall for what they innately believe in,” said Becky Marcelliano, senior brand manager for advocacy at onX.

Executive Leadership and Future Threats
Orvidas, who joined onX as CEO in 2018 after 18 years at Amazon, led the company’s participation in its most significant advocacy effort to date. Under her leadership, onX has grown from a startup to an industry leader with over 400 employees serving millions of customers who hunt, hike, off-road, backcountry ski and snowboard, climb, mountain bike, and fish.

Her keynote will share how onX helped make public lands advocacy accessible to its diverse user base, and across both sides of the aisle. And she’ll address why large scale public land sales are an existential crisis for any brand in the outdoor industry, and how we can’t afford to stay silent.

On the morning of Day 3 of Outdoor Media Summit, The Conservation Alliance will revive their beloved TCA Breakfast, featuring action stations where attendees can lobby lawmakers and join advocacy networks. The conference closes with The Conservation Alliance’s Executive Director, Paul Hendricks, delivering the closing keynote, where he will give specific steps to media and brands, to start prepping for future public lands attacks.
