December 2, 2025

Toronto (December 2, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Mountain Equipment, a pioneer in high-performance mountaineering equipment since 1961, will be giving attendees at four of North America’s premier ice climbing festivals the opportunity to demo its latest ice climbing and mountaineering gear. This winter season Mountain Equipment will be offering equipment demos at the Bozeman Ice Climbing Festival, Ouray Ice Festival, Mount Washington Valley Ice Fest, and Adirondack International Mountainfest.
“These festivals are the heart of the ice climbing community in North America and are an opportunity for us to connect directly with climbers of all levels,” said Bill Supple, Mountain Equipment North American Managing Director. “This isn’t just a great chance for climbers to try our gear, but it’s also an opportunity for us to get immediate product feedback and interact with our core customers.”
At each festival, Mountain Equipment will offer attendees access to a range of its technical ice climbing and mountaineering products. Climbers will be able to test gear in real-world conditions on some of the most iconic ice formations in North America and receive expert guidance from Mountain Equipment representatives and local guides.
Featured Products Available to Demo include:
Oreus Hooded Jacket – The award-winning result of a five-year development project, the Oreus features Mountain Equipment’s exclusive Aetherm™ Precision Insulation, a patent-pending synthetic fill that delivers down-like warmth with the durability and weather resistance of synthetic insulation. Exceptionally lightweight and packable, this versatile jacket can be worn as an outer layer, warm mid-layer, or belay jacket. The Oreus has been extensively tested by Mountain Equipment athletes from the Karakoram to Patagonia and the Alps, earning rave reviews for its warmth-to-weight ratio and performance in challenging conditions.
Kryos Jacket – Purpose-built for winter alpine climbing and super alpinism in the greater ranges, the Kryos represents the pinnacle of down insulation technology. Featuring Mountain Equipment’s innovative FIRESTORM™ construction, this jacket delivers exceptional warmth with minimal weight and enhanced weather protection. The Kryos contains 234g of 800-fill power goose down in an optimized hybrid baffle system and has been proven on some of the hardest ascents in recent years, including multiple Piolet d’Or winning climbs. Laboratory testing shows the Kryos performs 10% warmer than previous generation jackets of similar weight.
Serac Gauntlet – For climbers who need maximum warmth and protection in extreme alpine conditions, the Serac Gauntlet delivers comprehensive coverage with a gauntlet-length design. The waterproof DRILITE® insert is bonded in place to provide protection without inhibiting dexterity, while pile and microfleece lining maximize warmth. Pre-curved and articulated fingers ensure secure handling of carabiners and ice screws, making the Serac Gauntlet ideal for prolonged exposure on ice routes and high-altitude climbing.
Mountain Equipment’s presence at these events continues the brand’s long-standing commitment to supporting the climbing community through grassroots engagement and providing climbers direct access to the gear that has equipped countless expeditions to the world’s highest peaks and most remote environments.
