onX Releases 2025 Impact Report Highlighting Access Expansion, Restoration and Advocacy
March 3, 2026

Missoula, Mont. – Mar. 3, 2026 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – onX, a pioneer in outdoor digital navigation, has released its 2025 Impact Report, detailing a year of expanded public access to recreation, nationwide stewardship of these places and data-driven advocacy during one of the most pivotal moments for public lands in recent history.
Structured around three pillars: Philanthropy and Giving, Education and Inspiration, and Advocacy and Action, the report highlights how onX combined technology, partnerships and community mobilization to protect and expand outdoor access across the United States.
Philanthropy and Giving
In 2025, onX’s Adventure Forever Grant Program and other efforts supported projects across 27 states that expanded access and strengthened conservation outcomes. Highlights include:
- 72,725 acres of private land enrolled in public access and conservation programs
- 4,389 public acres acquired for permanent access and secured in perpetuity
- 176 miles of trails built or restored
These grant-funded projects ranged from rebuilding hurricane-damaged trails in North Carolina and improving four sections of the Continental Divide Trail, to mobilizing veterans for stewardship missions and removing miles of obsolete fencing to improve wildlife habitat and access.
Education and Inspiration
Throughout the year, onX also focused on equipping its audience with the knowledge and opportunities to protect the places that fuel our collective adventures. A highlight was its Trail Revival Project in partnership with Toyota. The year-long effort resulted in:
- 490 volunteers mobilized across 12 states
- 261 miles of trails restored
- 7 tons of trash and 145 trees removed
- 3,000+ hours of volunteer work
The company also continued to build awareness around access barriers, including corner-locked lands across the West, where approximately 8.3 million acres of federally managed land remain inaccessible due to checkerboard ownership patterns.
Advocacy and Action
As federal budget discussions introduced proposals to sell public lands in Utah and Nevada last spring, onX conducted a GIS analysis identifying 547,678 acres at risk of sale. By translating legislative language into clear, interactive maps, the company helped inform the outdoor community and policymakers about what was at stake.
A coordinated digital campaign rallied more than 30,000 outdoor enthusiasts, amplifying awareness and reinforcing bipartisan support to keep public lands in public hands.
onX brought this work and more directly to Capitol Hill, meeting with 21 congressional offices. The team lobbied for support for the passage of MAPWaters and the implementation of MAPLands and the EXPLORE Act.
