Lausanne, Switzerland: World Obstacle, the Fédération Internationale de Sports d’Obstacles (FISO), announced today results for the first edition of the Virtual OCR World Series “OCRWS-V” after six editions over eight months.

More than 300 athletes from 45 countries have embarked on this new format of the sport and exhibited extraordinary performances, respecting the confinement imposed in several regions of the world. South Africa finished first in the overall medal count with nine gold, six silver and four bronze. The second and third places went to Singapore and the Philippines, respectively, demonstrating the strength and penetration of obstacle sports in the African and Asian continents.

This new concept enabled participants of all ages to add focus to their home training regimes, keep their skills sharp and enjoy the thrill of online competition.

The format of the OCRWS-V was simple; participants completed a series of obstacle “exercises” alternated with running segments and tracked them with apps and video for verification. There were female and male categories across 5-year age groups, from Under 10 to 65+ and Para. FISO Technical Officials were appointed to make sure races were completed properly.

Results and virtual medals (Gold Silver and Bronze) were awarded for all categories. The top 10 men and top 10 women in the Virtual OCR World Championships “OCRWC-V” win a free entry into the 2021 FISO OCR World Championships in Russia, scheduling subject to the travel and health restrictions. Race entries will only be provided to those who agree to promote the championships.

The top 4 men and top 4 women of the OCRWC-V compete in the finals (Medal Rounds) which will be a globally broadcast TV show on World Obstacle YouTube channel.
