Swedish Traction Footwear Company Icebug Presents New Winter Models Equipped with World-Leading Grip
October 16, 2025

The company’s studded styles feature BUGrip traction technology, a waterproof BUGdri membrane, and transparency in manufacturing.
JONSERED, Sweden (October 16, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — From its founding over twenty years ago, Swedish traction footwear company Icebug set out to solve a problem: every year, around 25,000 Swedes slip and injure themselves so badly that they need to seek medical attention – completely unnecessarily.
As it developed solutions to this problem in its home country, Icebug became a world-leader in footwear grip technology. With Icebug’s studded shoes, people in icy places around the world can walk safely even when the surfaces upon which they tread are frozen.
Ahead of the 2025 winter season, the grip expert has released several new and updated models – all equipped with Icebug’s world-leading grip technology, BUGrip. Icebug’s BUGrip sole is made of a special rubber compound with 13-19 dynamically integrated carbide steel studs, each of which independently adapt to both your steps and the ground surface. The result is sure-footed traction on everything from bare asphalt to icy sidewalks – without compromising on comfort.
Here are the key new and updated models to know for the winter ahead:
Alne BUGrip – A light and warming novelty made to cover miles
Climate footprint: 11 kg CO2e per pair, 7% bio-based material, 11% recycled material
Alne (239.95 USD) is a light and flexible winter novelty. The midsole is taken from Icebug’s running shoe collection, and its cushioning makes Alne a perfect shoe for both the longer walks and trips to the ski slope. 14 dynamic carbide steel studs ensure that you get reliable grip on slippery surfaces, wherever you are. The upper is made of recycled RipStop polyester and has reinforcements for extra protection and durability. The fleece lining is warm and comfortable, and together with the waterproof BUGdri™ membrane, your feet stay dry and warm. An adjustable BOA® Fit System ensures a snug fit—even with gloves on. Alne is available in two colors: Timber and Black.
Lunne BUGrip – A sporty and adventure-ready boot
Climate footprint: 12 kg CO2e per pair, 8% bio-based material, 12% recycled material
The new Lunne (219.95 USD) is a sporty, waterproof and vegan studded shoe for all winter days. The BUGdri membrane keeps your feet dry and the soft terry lining ensures high comfort and a comfortable climate. The sole is well cushioned and the last is wide, which keeps your feet happy even on long days. The BUGrip® outsole has dynamic carbide steel studs that deliver uncompromising grip. Lunne comes in two colors: Grey/Wheat and Black.
Sala BUGrip (Women’s | Men’s) – A popular everyday shoe in a new color
Climate footprint: 11 kg CO2e per pair, 13% bio-based material, 11% recycled material
Sala (179.95 USD) is a lightweight and comfortable winter shoe with a stable studded grip for walking on icy streets. The model is decorated with a zipper at the front and a soft upper in quilted textile, made of recycled RipStop polyester that protects against moisture. At the bottom of the shoe there is also a splash guard that keeps out all forms of slush and dirt, making the shoe easy to maintain and extending its lifespan. The women’s version is available in a new color this season: Mulberry.
Boda BUGrip (Women’s | Men’s) – A classic Chelsea boot with winter-ready features
Climate footprint: 13 kg CO2e per pair, 24% bio-based material, 13% recycled material
Long days outdoors? No problem!
