Nocs Provisions Introduces the Field Issue 42: The Most Compact 42mm Binocular Available
April 9, 2026

Full-Size Clarity and Unmatched Low-Light Performance Streamlined for the Modern Explorer
ALPINE MEADOWS, Calif. (April 9, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Nocs Provisions, maker of premium, adventure-ready outdoor optics and accessories, today introduces the waterproof Field Issue 42, the most compact 42mm binocular on the market. The newest addition to the Nocs lineup further bridges the gap between portability and professional power, packing a full-size 42mm objective lens into a form factor the same size as a standard 32mm mid-sized binocular. Designed for those who demand brighter images and stronger reach without the traditional bulk, the Field Issue 42 provides a premium glassing experience and is designed to be taken along for the journey.
To ensure the Field Issue 42 stands up to the most demanding conditions on Earth, Nocs partnered with renowned wildlife biologist and conservationist Forrest Galante to put the optic through its paces. Known for his “all-gas” approach to life and work as the host of Discovery Channel’s Extinct or Alive, Galante spent his days tracking rare species and championing conservation in rugged environments to verify the gear’s field durability. By blending scientific credibility with the adventurous spirit of a modern-day explorer, Galante provides the ultimate proof of concept. If the gear can survive a day in the field with Forrest, it can survive just about anything.
The Field Issue 42 is the culmination of a multi-year engineering challenge: deliver the light-gathering capabilities of a heavy-duty optic in a compact, waterproof frame that fits in a jacket pocket or a small hip pack. With Swiss-designed BaK4 prisms and HiFi Fully Multi-Coated lenses, Nocs has achieved a staggering 394-foot field of view at 1,000 yards in a tough, adventure-ready casing just over 5 inches in length.
The Field Issue 42 features Nocs’ proprietary ToughWave™ Ribbed Rubber Armor, a 360° injection-molded housing engineered for superior impact absorption and a non-slip grip. Inside, Swiss-designed BaK4 prisms and HiFi Fully Multi-Coated lenses deliver expansive clarity, achieving a staggering 394-foot field of view at 1,000 yards in a casing just over 5 inches long.
Built for real-world conditions, the Field Issue 42 is IPX7 waterproof and nitrogen-purged to be completely fogproof. Like all Nocs products, it is backed by the brand’s “No-Matter-What” Lifetime Warranty and shipped in 100% plastic-free, recyclable packaging.
“We’ve always been about the compact form factor, making gear that gets out there and actually lives, not precious objects meant to gather dust,” said Nocs Provisions Founder and CEO, Chris McKleroy. “The Field Issue 42 is a product we want taken to the ends of the earth. We managed to engineer the most compact full-size binocular ever made without giving up anything in terms of performance, providing a window into nature that truly supercharges your eyeballs.”
