May 1, 2026

Expanded lodging options, new booking platform, and enhanced visitor experiences mark milestone year for conservation and recreation

Lewistown, Montana /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – American Prairie is pleased to announce the opening of online reservations for the 2026 season, offering expanded access to more than 600,000 acres of Montana’s Northern Great Plains, one of the largest and most ecologically significant wild landscapes in the United States. As American Prairie celebrates its 20th anniversary, the organization invites visitors to experience a truly wild and uncrowded destination in the heart of Montana, situated between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.

For the 2026 season, American Prairie has transitioned its booking platform to Hipcamp, streamlining the reservation process and enhancing the visitor experience. Reservations are now available for a range of lodging options across American Prairie, including Buffalo Camp, Antelope Creek Campground, and the Myers Family Huts. Facilities include tent sites, RV spots, cabins, and backcountry hut accommodations designed to connect guests with the prairie landscape. From accessible campgrounds with modern amenities to remote, self-service sites, visitors can choose experiences that match their level of adventure.

“There are few places in the U.S. where people can experience a landscape this wild, open, and alive,” said Alyssa Ravasio, Hipcamp Founder and CEO. “We’re proud to help more visitors discover American Prairie, find and book the right place to camp, and support a conservation vision that’s truly designed to last for generations.”

“Opening reservations for the 2026 season is an exciting milestone as we continue expanding public access across American Prairie,” said Anna Schale, Public Access Manager at American Prairie. “With more than 7,100 overnight visitors in 2025 and strong demand across our lodging options, we are seeing growing interest in experiencing this landscape firsthand. With more places to stay and new ways to explore, we are making it easier than ever for people to visit the Northern Great Plains while supporting a long-term vision for conservation at scale.”
