Athlete and Activist Alison Mariella Désir Brings Meaning Thru Movement To Global Audience

March 18, 2021

MARCH 18, 2021- After a highly successful outing in 2020 with thousands of attendees in seven countries, the Meaning Thru Movement Tour will kick off for a second season this Saturday, March 20. Created and hosted by athlete and activist Alison Mariella Désir and presented by HOKA ONE ONE, these virtual events bring important conversations about mental health and advocacy into the running and fitness world.

Special guests for Saturday’s event include Olympian and author Alysia Montaño and maternal health expert Karen Kleiman. Guests slated to appear in later tour dates include Cliff Albright, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, Teresa Baker, founder of Outdoor CEO Diversity Pledge and Chris Mosier, a trailblazing transgender athlete and thought leader on LGBTQ inclusion in sports.

Meaning Thru Movement is the culmination of years of work by Alison Mariella Désir, a globally recognized fitness advocate, mental health professional and community activist. Says Désir:

“Getting intentional about staying active is one of the most powerful choices we can make for our own self-care,” says Désir. “Given the effects of the current global pandemic, it is essential to advocate for greater access to mental health resources and we aim to do just that with this virtual tour.”

Each online event will feature a dedicated discussion with a mental health expert on key themes, where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions directly during the live stream. The events will also feature dynamic movement, through a variety of fitness modalities, from yoga to HIIT. Each event will also include access to a wealth of resources to help participants further their advocacy.

MTM 2021 Tour launches on March 20, 2021. Tickets are available online now.
