Bivo Wants You to Ditch Plastic Bottles, Forever

July 30, 2021

RICHMOND, Vt. (July 30, 2021) — The Bivo Pledge—an initiative aimed at reducing plastic water bottle use—will be launched at the Rooted Vermont gravel-bike race and festival in Richmond, Vermont on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Through the pledge Bivo encourages people to switch from their traditional plastic bike (or water) bottle to a stainless steel alternative—even if that alternative isn’t a Bivo vessel. The pledge is two-fold. Consumers can join by pledging never to purchase another plastic bottle and retailers can join by pledging never to sell another plastic bottle.

“We want the Bivo Pledge to be all-inclusive,” says co-founder Robby Ringer. “We know that less plastic in the world is better for everyone, so that’s what we’re trying to encourage. Obviously we’d love it if everyone who signs the pledge buys a Bivo One, but if they commit to not purchasing plastic bottles and buy a HydroFlask or Klean Kanteen instead, it’s still a positive impact on the environment.”

In order to incentivize consumer participation Bivo has committed to double the Bivo Fund donation from any purchases made by those who pledge to 2% of the sale. Normally the brand donates 1% of every purchase to the fund, which supports bike and water related non-profits across the globe.

Retailers who sign the pledge are offered incentives that include linked logo placement on the Pledge page, the opportunity to collaborate on a unique bottle design, and promotion through Bivo’s newsletters and blog.

About Bivo

Bivo launched their signature product, the Bivo One in late 2020. The bottle, which was developed with input from a former NASA engineer, features a unique flow system that allows users to empty the contents faster than a traditional plastic water bottle can be squeezed to empty. Since the vessel is made from stainless steel it is mold resistant, offers a cleaner taste and is free from any of the chemicals found in plastic bottles.
