BUFF® Named Top Apparel Brand in 2020 Outdoor Sports Industry Performance Award by NPD Group

SANTA ROSA, California (April 7, 2021)– Buff, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of BUFF®, creators of versatile performance headwear for all-season outdoor enthusiasts and athletes, was awarded an inaugural Outdoor Sports Industry Performance Award by the NPD Group. The award acknowledges the fastest-growing brands of 2020 across major outdoor categories in the U.S. The BUFF brand was one of seven brands in the outdoor space who received the award within the categories of accessories, apparel, footwear, equipment accessories, camping, water sports and snow equipment.
Among all apparel brands, BUFF®was recognized as achieving the most year-over-year dollar sales growth as calculated by the NPD’s Retail Tracking Service. The outdoor market generated $6.1 billion in U.S. retail sales in 2020, according to NPD. Camping, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities experienced a spike in participation and gear sales. NPD reports a 36% increase in camping gear sales, and 19% increase in water sports gear sales – among additional areas of the market.

BUFF® leveraged increased product demand, as well as the introduction of a new BUFF® Filter product category to expand into new retail channels, support licensed fabric partnerships and significantly supplement resources to its global and regional corporate social responsibility portfolio.
In addition to growing existing retail accounts, BUFF® secured several notable contracts including entering into all doors of Dick’s Sporting Goods and Academy.
BUFF® brand teams globally felt the immediate impact of the pandemic, leading to the commitment of an increased support of an existing partnership with UNICEF. At the close of the 2021 fiscal year, BUFF® will donate 2% of global sales profits to the international relief organization. Additionally, BUFF® broadened it’s give-back programming to include several new and valued non-profit organizations like the NAACP, Protect Our Winters and Camping to Connect.
