Buy a pair of socks, plant a tree: Minus33 launches limited-edition Earth Day sock collaboration

April 21, 2023

Every Mountain Heritage Earth Day Sock order plants one tree

ASHLAND, NH /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Minus33, New Hampshire’s merino wool specialist, is celebrating Earth Day by donating $1 to One Tree Planted for every pair of Earth Day Mountain Heritage Mini-Crew Wool Socks sold. Supporting reforestation efforts around the globe, One Tree Planted is committed to the overlapping goals of reforestation, restoration of biodiversity and socially impactful job creation.

Every pair of full-cushion Mountain Heritage Mini Crew Earth Day Socks is made in New Hampshire, and every pair purchased from Monday, April 17 until May 1 accrues a donation toward reforestation around the globe.

“The whole reason that we make all this great merino apparel is because we love being outdoors and want to be comfortable outdoors, all year round,” said Minus33 President Lawson Glidden. “So it’s only natural that we take whatever steps we can to protect the environment and support reforestation, not only on Earth Day, but all year round.”

Planting trees is consistently identified as one of the best ways to combat the damaging effects of climate change. Trees help to clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat for over 80 percent of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity.

Thanks to this partnership, by simply making a great addition to one’s own or a friend’s sock drawer, people can contribute to global reforestation, through One Tree Planted. The trees are planted by local partner organizations and community volunteers in areas where deforestation has occurred. Socks are made to order and will be expected to ship 2-4 weeks after preorders close.

About Minus33

Minus33 offers the finest quality merino wool basics at a price that everyone can afford. Carrying forward over 100 years of expertise, Minus33 was created by the wool experts of the L. W. Packard Co., in 2002, as a response to the changing global trade and manufacturing landscape. In 2020, the brand set out to bring wool production back to Ashland, New Hampshire, with its Mountain Heritage line of socks, extending a local tradition dating back to 1840, when the Briggs brothers of Leeds, England, built a woolen mill on the Squam River, manufacturing wool products, hosiery, gloves, sporting equipment and paper. In 1916, Luther W. Packard of Berwick, Maine, purchased the mill and named it L.W. Packard. For more history on the L. W. Packard Mill and Minus33, read Our Story.
