COROS Performance Optimization Device and New Track Running Mode Hit the Market

November 12, 2019

The COROS Performance Optimization Device (POD), is the brand’s first accessory and will measure advanced running metrics in conjunction with a COROS watch, or alone through the brand’s app.

Tustin, CA, November 12, 2019 – COROS Wearables Inc., makers of endurance sports wearables, announced today their first Smart Running Accessory with the addition of the COROS Performance Optimization Device (POD). According to COROS, the POD can be used in tandem with any of their watches to provide even greater running data to the user, or it can be paired directly with the brand’s smart phone app for users new to COROS.

Exciting features of the COROS POD, include:

  • Running Efficiency measurement for improved biomechanics and running form
  • Running Power Analysis – measuring how power is divided to move the body forward, laterally and vertically.
  • Ground Contact Time and Cadence
  • Left/Right Balance – to help prevent injury from imbalances or overuse of one side of the body
  • Stride Height, Length and Stride Ratio – measuring the ratio of stride height to stride length to prevent wasted energy.

COROS POD has been tested by runners of all levels including the COROS Professional Athlete team, on the roads and trails over the last few months – the information provided by the POD has been a tremendous asset to the users’ training programs. The COROS POD will be available for purchase on coros.com and at select running specialty retailers.

Additional POD features and specs:

  • Battery Life – 1 Year (2 hours use/Day) – twice as long as the competition.
  • Waterproof to 1 ATM (10 meters)

“At COROS, we pride ourselves on listening to and reacting to our users’ needs. Over the last year it has become clear that many demand even more advanced running metrics to optimize their training, so we created the COROS POD to satisfy their requirements” said Lewis Wu, CEO of COROS. “Even athletes who do not yet have a COROS product can take advantage of this great piece of technology as we have designed it to work on its own with the COROS App.”

Shipping will begin on Tuesday November 12nd with a suggested retail price of $69.99 (or $49.99 when purchased with a COROS GPS Watch.) All current COROS watch owners can purchase the POD for $49.99 during the month of November when they log into their user portal on coros.com.

COROS has also announced a first of its kind software feature being released via a firmware update on the same day for APEX, APEX Pro, and VERTIX users. Track Running Mode will finally rid runners of the errors commonly found when training on their local 400m track. Using a proprietary algorithm, COROS users will not get a virtually flawless reading on a track, regardless of their lane of choice. Users should update their app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download the new firmware to their watch(es). The firmware will be available for the APEX 42mm and 46mm models on November 12th, followed by the APEX Pro and VERTIX models on November 13th and the PACE later this year.
