B Corp Lifestyle Brand Opens Brick & Mortar and Partners With Mercy Corp as well as The Hotel Zags
Salt Lake City, UT – April 19, 2022/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Cotopaxi – outdoor gear and apparel brand and Benefit Corporation – recently opened its first long term brick & mortar retail location in Portland, OR on April 15. The impact-driven apparel, gear and accessories brand also donated to the local Mercy Corps organization as part of the opening celebrations and ongoing non-profit partnership with the global impact leader through the Cotopaxi Foundation.
As part of Cotopaxi’s Gear For Good mission, the store has a “Community Grantee” area where visitors can learn about local nonprofit organizations and Cotopaxi’s ongoing philanthropic work. Aligning with Cotopaxi’s new presence in the area, the brand donated $10,000 to Mercy Corps Northwest, which invests in communities and fights for equitable opportunities in Portland, OR and throughout the Pacific Northwest. The two entities are also partnering up to hold a “Going to Market – Small Business Speed Mentoring” event, which will be hosted virtually on the Hop On platform and will take place on Thursday May 12, 5:00-8:00 PM. The event is designed for pre- and early- stage entrepreneurs and small business owners, who are connected with local mentors for advice and support.
“Portland really aligns with Cotopaxi’s energy, color and values, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring the brand to this progressive community,” said Ethan White, Cotopaxi’s Director of Retail Operations. “With exceptional access to the outdoors, as well as an energetic urban lifestyle, the city is the perfect location for this new storefront and we look forward to welcoming visitors and locals alike.”
Additionally, Cotopaxi is thrilled to announce a partnership with inclusive and outdoors-centric hotel property, The Hotel Zags. Known for its “Gear Shed” and inclusive events programming and charitable partnerships, The Hotel Zags is hosting a Drag @ Zags Brunch sponsored by Cotopaxi on May 14th. The collaborative event will feature Cotopaxi and impact-inspired art, designed by Drag @ Zags partner Bottle & Bodega, to celebrate Portland’s colorful diversity, as well as the opening of the new Cotopaxi storefront. The event will be held on Sunday May 14th from 12pm-3pm and is $60, a percentage of which goes directly to Mercy Corps through the Cotopaxi Foundation. Space is limited and interested parties can sign up at the link below.
“It’s extremely important for us to align with other organizations and individuals that share our values, and The Hotel Zags is an embodiment of who we are as a brand; inclusive, impactful, and colorful,” said Jeffrey Steadman, Cotopaxi’s Community Engagement Director. “Holding this event at The Hotel Zags’ beautiful, nature-soaked property is a great way to not only raise funds for Mercy Corp but also show that when we work together we can truly do good.”
