Granite Gear’s Voz Primavera Collection Benefits Latino Outdoors

December 6, 2022

In partnership with José González

Two Harbors, MN — December 6, 2022 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Granite Gear has partnered with José González, founder of Latino Outdoors, on the Voz Primavera Collection, available on the brand’s ultralight Hipwing and Hiker Satchel. 50% of the proceeds from the collection will benefit José González and Latino Outdoors. González is an artist, writer, and conservationist educator who explores the intersection of environment and culture. He drew inspiration from Chicano and other Latinx artists such as Jorge Enciso, poet Pablo Neruda, along with graphics and aesthetics from socio-political movements from the 1960’s onward to create the Voz Primavera. Design motifs from indigenous communities in Mexico throughout history are evident throughout the pattern.

José González says of the new collection, “I’m excited to share this collaboration with Granite Gear not just as a visually culturally resonant piece, but also one that has layers of story, much like our multifaceted selves. Another way that says ‘Estamos Aqui’.”

All design elements, from the colors selected to the verbiage celebrated on the packs (“hecho con amor,” translates to “made with love”), have been a result of intentional collaboration between González, Karen Ramos, and Teresa Baker (founder of Outdoor CEO Pledge, who connects leading outdoor brands and nonprofits with inclusion advocates to advance representation for people of color across the industry) with the Granite Gear team.

The Voz Primavera Hipwing (MSRP: $29.95) keeps essentials right at your hip, weighing in at a mere 2.3 ounces and featuring an adjustable webbing waist belt and zippered main compartment. The Voz Primavera Hiker Satchel (MSRP: $27.95) makes for a stylish, lightweight addition to your kit for both travel and outdoor activities. It can be worn across the body, hanging from a shoulder, or by placing the strap around your neck and hanging in front for easy, quick access.

“Being able to combine product design with José’s artistic vision is exciting on its own, but then having tangible, direct support for José and his organization, Latino Outdoors, as result of this collaboration… it doesn’t get much better than that. As a product designer, my dream is to have a meaningful impact through design,” said David Eisenberg, Granite Gear’s Director of Design.
