January 15, 2021

Bajio To Launch Sustainably Built Sunglasses with Unparalleled Lens Technology

New Smyrna Beach, FL (Jan 15, 2020)Bajio Sunglasses is bringing fresh eyes to the sunglass market through the introduction of their first-ever collection launching March 1, 2021. Bajio, Spanish for “the shallows”, draws inspiration from flats around the world, and seeks to bring sustainably built sunglasses featuring blue light filtering lenses to the market. The first collection, featuring 12 frames and six lens options will allow consumers to customize their sunglasses for any fishing and outdoor adventure.

Bajio is comprised of a veteran leadership team with vast eyewear experience, led by founder and President Al Perkinson. With more than 35 years in the conservation and fishing industries, Al and the Bajio team will be joined by forward-thinking and creative young minds who will help build the brand authentically and engage with younger members of the fishing community.

Bajio’s vision is to provide consumers with what they want, and most importantly need when it comes to venturing outdoors.

“We are investing heavily in lens technology and focusing on lenses that manage blue light,” comments Al Perkinson, Bajio President. “The sun produces more blue light than any other source, and our lenses are built to filter out the amount of blue light that reaches the eyes. Less strain and fatigue means fresh eyes and more fun on the water.”

In addition to unparalleled lenses, Bajio strives to minimize its impact on the planet and the oceans. Frames will be constructed from plant-based materials such as castor beans and coconut husks, and lenses are made from recyclable glass. The sunglass cases will be made from unused materials from the manufacturing of other glasses cases, and all products will be shipped in 100% recycled packaging.

“Our oceans are the recipients of so much trash that we generate on this planet,” said Perkinson. “That’s why we feel it’s critically important to be as sustainable as possible in everything we make and in everything we do.”

As part of their commitment to sustainability and helping the oceans, the team is headed to Xcalak, Mexico, next month to help tackle a massive ocean trash problem plaguing the community. Bajio draws inspiration from the flats located in these communities and is always aware of the importance of giving back to help create a healthier ocean.

Bajio will appear in independent retailers beginning mid-February and will launch to consumers on March 1, 2021. For more information on Bajio or to inquire about becoming a retail partner, visit bajio.com.
