FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (December 16, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — Kahtoola is proud to announce the online premiere of Arctic Alchemy, a powerful new documentary from Alaskan filmmakers Colin Arisman and Zeppelin Zeerip, now streaming on the Kahtoola YouTube channel. The film follows renowned adventurer and climate scientist Dr. Roman Dial on a 112-mile research expedition through the Brooks Range—one of the planet’s last great wildernesses—at a moment when the region faces unprecedented industrial and environmental threats. Watch the full 29-minute film now.

As new extractive projects and rapidly accelerating climate impacts reshape the Arctic, Arctic Alchemy offers an intimate look at what stands to be lost. Guided by Dial’s decades of backcountry research, the film reveals the fragile beauty of an ecosystem under mounting pressure and the resilience required to protect it.

“Roman’s work embodies the spirit of adventure, curiosity, and care for the natural world that inspires us every day,” said Danny Giovale, founder and owner of Kahtoola. “Supporting this film and its filmmakers allows us to help elevate a story that inspires people to care for the wild spaces we all depend on.”

Through sweeping cinematography and personal vérité moments, Arctic Alchemy weaves together science, adventure, and personal reflection. Along the journey, Dial confronts profound loss, mentors emerging researchers, and shows how moving through wild country can offer a way forward when the world feels fragile.

Kahtoola supported the film as part of its ongoing commitment to protect wild places and uplift the communities, scientists, and storytellers working on the front lines of climate and conservation.

Take Action

Alaska is already warming four times faster than the rest of the planet. And the landscape featured in Arctic Alchemy is under real pressure from the proposed Ambler industrial mining road, which would cut through the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic. It would have irreversible impact on indigenous communities, watersheds and wildlife. Learn more and join the fight to protect this region at defendbrooksrange.org
