Keynote Speakers Finalized for Outdoor Media Summit 2023

August 13, 2023

(Boise, Idaho) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Outdoor Media Summit is pleased to announce that Kent Ebersole, president, Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), and Jess Wahl Turner, president, Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR), will keynote keynote at Outdoor Media Summit 2023 in Boise, Idaho, September 24-26. The keynotes will revolve around the topics of the changing outdoor consumer as well as new legislation efforts in Congress that will impact the outdoor recreation economy.

The keynote lineup for Outdoor Media Summit 2023 has been finalized. Ebersole will give an address entitled How to Adapt to the Evolving Outdoor Consumer where he will release exclusive new data from the OIA State of the Outdoor Market Report. This data, which will be updated for the fall, will offer guidance to brands and media on how to best meet the needs of the dynamic outdoor-industry consumer. Turner’s talk will be titled Game Changing Legislation that Will Catapult the Outdoor Recreation Economy. She will overview a multi-industry, bi-partisan legislative effort that will change the way Americans access the outdoors as well as utilizing the Farm Bill and other new vehicles to advance outdoor recreation policies and funding.

“Partisan politics have grabbed headlines as of late industry,” says Yoon Kim, founder of Outdoor Media Summit. “Yet outdoor recreation is one area where there is real bi-partisan momentum, in large part because of the work that OIA and ORR are doing. We’re excited that those updates will be released at OMS this fall.”

“Nothing is predictable in media and marketing except for unpredictability itself,” says Lucie Hanes, event director of Outdoor Media Summit. “Change is part of the game. These keynotes will walk attendees through the biggest changes that are currently disrupting the outdoor industry, and will put these disruptions in context so that we can all navigate them with confidence.”

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service will also present data on current reservations made on Recreation.gov. This data will give attendees even more insight into the current state of outdoor recreation participation at national parks, campgrounds and other public lands related bookings.

These speakers add to an already star-studded cast including representatives from media outlets like GearJunkie, BLISTER, Forbes, Backpacker Magazine, CNN, Condé Nast Traveler, Seth’s Bike Hacks, Alpinist Magazine, and more. Brands will also be well represented on stage with representatives from top names like The North Face, Smartwool, LIVSN, ENO, Gregory Packs, Outdoor Vitals and more.

“We’re looking forward to being in front of the top marketers and media editors in the game,” said Ebersole. “OIA is here to help these leaders better understand the markets and people they serve so they can confidently evolve with the pace of the industry. Innovation starts with knowledge and our research provides the most focused and trusted view of consumers and the industry.”

“Outdoor Recreation Roundtable is excited to discuss the huge strides the outdoor recreation industry has made in recent years at Outdoor Media Summit 2023 — from officially being recognized as a major economic driver by the Department of Commerce to the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act and climate packages, and hopefully to the first-ever outdoor recreation specific legislative package this year,” said Jessica Wahl Turner. “We cannot wait to share ideas about how we can grow the recreation economy together and the opportunities in front of us in Congress and all fifty states.”

This series of conversations, from economy to consumer to strategy to legislation, will only take place at Outdoor Media Summit this year as one of the leading in-person gatherings of its kind. The conference brings together these four corners of the industry within one event, which ensures that the audience walks away with a thorough update on where the industry lies from on an overarching and specialized level.
