Kila Footwear Partners with Professional Ultra-Runner Tom Evans for 2026 Season
January 20, 2026
VENICE, CALIFORNIA (January 20, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — Tom Evans, the top ultra athlete in the world and 2025 UTMB champion, along with Kila Footwear, are thrilled to announce the beginning of a brand-athlete relationship. Evans trains and races in Kila insoles in order to optimize his running gains, and will continue to do so, at least through 2026. “I actually discovered Kila on my own before they approached me about a formal brand partnership,” remarks Evans. “I bought a pair this past summer and the product is brilliant. When I’m racing, my feet are quite possibly the most important part of my body to support—everything else depends on them— and the Kila Run Pros keep them well taken care of.”
Tom Evans, a British trail-runner and former British Army Captain, has a long list of notable achievements and several podium finishes at the world’s largest ultra-trail events, including a third place finish in 2019 at the Western States Endurance Run, a race that he then won in 2023, and a first place finish this past year at the 170km (108 mile) Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) finals in Chamonix. “We couldn’t be more excited to be entering a partnership with UTMB champion Tom Evans,'” says Kila co-founder Cole Zucker. “His results are incredibly impressive, and only seem to be improving, and he’s been a terrific person to get to know over the past several months.”
Kila is the only custom insole on the market designed specifically for running, and was designed to provide runners with a product that not only adds comfort and prevents injuries, but also has a profound performance benefit.“When Kila launched this past year there’s no doubt they leveled-up the category and created a product that improved my, and so many other runner’s training and racing,” states Evans. “I have a pair in all of my shoes and count on them to help me maximize my performance, while staying injury free and comfortable, no matter how far I’m running.”
Kila’s founders knew that elites were already using custom or aftermarket insoles, and they wanted to spread these same performance benefits to athletes at all levels of the sport. “A little secret in the running industry is that pro runners don’t use insoles, but actually, for years they’ve been training and racing in clinical-grade custom orthotics for a performance edge,” comments Zucker. “We’re hoping that by partnering with Tom we can raise awareness of this fact across a broader group, helping runners of all abilities improve their performance while simultaneously increasing comfort.”
Custom orthotics made at a podiatrist’s office are expensive and can be inconvenient to schedule, and off-the-shelf options currently on the market rarely provide an equivalent level of support as a custom insole. By incorporating Apple’s iPhone FaceID camera technology into their app, Kila is able to take scans of customer’s feet and use the data to create a completely customized insole for a fraction of the cost of a podiatrist-prescribed orthotic, and in a way that is easily fit into any schedule. The insoles are 3D printed in a lab using the same materials, currently a proprietary TPE, found in industry-leading supershoes to maximize forward bounce. With precise arch-to-arch contact, they improve power transfer and help the big toe joint engage faster—significantly enhancing propulsion.
