Mammut Unveils Sustainable Product Collection for Spring 2021

March 23, 2021

The Swiss outdoor brand doubles down in its commitment to the environment with new PFC-free and bluesign products

(Williston, VT) March 22, 2021 – Mammut, premiere mountain safety and outdoor brand, launches its new spring 2021 product collection for climbing, mountaineering, hiking and everyday use. Launching today, the new collection highlights Mammut’s commitment to sustainability and includes the award-winning 9.5 Crag We Care Classic Rope made of virgin material residual yarn, unused yarn leftover from production off-cuts, the Albula HS Hooded Jacket and Pant made of 100% recycled polyester, both of which offer PFC-free DWR, as well as a number of additional products that are PFC-free and bluesign® approved.

This new spring 2021 collection reflects Mammut’s ongoing efforts toward meeting its sustainability goals of having a 100% PFC-free and 90-100% bluesign approved product offering by 2025.

“As avid users of the outdoors at Mammut, we understand the immeasurable value of the natural spaces that we recreate in and see it as our responsibility to do everything we can to preserve and protect these places,” said Mammut Marketing Manager, Ben Eagleton. “Prioritizing sustainability with both our products and manufacturing processes is an essential aspect of our commitment to the environment as well as quality. We are thrilled to share the incredible strides we’ve made in eco-conscious production through years of research and innovation with this new collection.”

Perhaps the most exciting launch from Mammut for spring 2021 is the new 9.5 Crag We Care Classic Rope ($149.95), which earned a coveted Outdoor Retailer Innovation Award in January 2021 for its strides in reducing the environmental footprint of the brand’s rope production for climbing. The sheath of the single rope is made from residual yarn leftover from other rope constructions, and each batch of 9.5 Crag We Care Classic Rope is one of a kind, featuring its own unique pattern. This rope is an example of responsible use of resources leading to reduced carbon emissions and stands alone in the industry as a uniquely thoughtful and innovative product.

On the softgoods side, Mammut is unveiling the addition of hardshell options to the cult-favorite, eco-friendly Albula apparel collection for both men and women. The new Albula Hardshell Hooded Jacket ($179), Albula Hardshell Half Zip Hooded Jacket ($175) and Albula Hardshell Pants ($159) are PFC-free waterproof and wind resistant rain jackets and pants made of recycled polyester, designed for hiking and everyday use. In addition to their industry-leading green designs, the Albula Hardshell products are also incredibly lightweight and comfortable, thanks to soft and stretchable material that easily packs down for transport in a backpack.

In addition to these products, Mammut has a number of other products that are recycled, PFC-free and bluesign approved, including its Recovery Series of Relax, Protect and Performance sleeping bags.
