Mountain Hardwear Announces Partnership with Leave No Trace

April 19, 2023

The partnership bolsters shared mission to inspire and educate recreationists to experience the outdoors more sustainably

Richmond, Calif. (April 19, 2023) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Mountain Hardwear, a leader in performance equipment and apparel for climbers, mountaineers, and outdoor athletes, is proud to announce its partnership with Leave No Trace, a nonprofit organization dedicated to research and science-based education and skills to help people care for the outdoors. Through the brand’s partnership with Leave No Trace, Mountain Hardwear hopes to further educate its customers and beyond on best practices for protecting the outdoor spaces they recreate in.

“In Mountain Hardwear’s 30th year of making outdoor equipment and apparel, our mission still remains the same — to empower more people to experience and connect with nature,” says Troy Sicotte, president of Mountain Hardwear. “We are aware that encouraging more people to get outside has an impact on the planet. By partnering with Leave No Trace we can educate Mountain Hardwear brand followers and outdoor enthusiasts to become more conscious environmental stewards and help protect our wild spaces for present and future generations.”

As a partner of Leave No Trace, Mountain Hardwear will help support the organization’s mission through various initiatives in 2023. On April 20, Mountain Hardwear employees will volunteer at a local trail for maintenance and cleanup in celebration of the upcoming Earth Day. Throughout the year, the brand’s athlete team will also engage in educational workshops that will better equip them to have more tools, resources, and training on how to explore the outdoors and participate in their outdoor sports more sustainability. The athletes will then be able to share best practices with their own communities. Beyond these efforts, collaborative product releases and partnering together at events will provide additional opportunities for Leave No Trace to educate recreationists to further its efforts for environmental protection.

“Leave No Trace is thrilled to partner with Mountain Hardwear as a brand with a dedicated fan base and respected namesake in the outdoors,” says Dana Watts, executive director of Leave No Trace. “By working together through various activations and events alongside Mountain Hardwear and utilizing its channels to communicate important educational information, we can ensure that people headed outdoors are equipped with the right tools and mindset for protecting the outdoor spaces we love.”

In order to build a clear understanding of how people recreating outdoors can minimize their impact, Leave No Trace’s education-based philosophy is outlined in 7 Principles, which can be applied to any outdoor activity in any environment.
