Mountain Warehouse Partners with Hoods to Woods, Increasing Access to Outdoor Sports

December 20, 2024

LONDON, England (Dec 20, 2024) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Mountain Warehouse, the UK’s largest outdoor retailer with a growing presence worldwide, is excited to announce its upcoming support of the Hoods to Woods Foundation, a Brooklyn, New York based non-profit organization that promotes awareness of and access to the outdoors to inner city children through snowboarding. This relationship is the first U.S-based partnership that Mountain Warehouse has entered, and comes at a time when the business is doubling down on efforts to grow in the country.

“Access to the outdoors, and especially for youth, is one of the values we hold most dearly at Mountain Warehouse,” says founder Mark Neale. “We love the work that Hoods to Woods is undertaking, and are proud to outfit their participants with winter apparel and sponsor a weekend snowboard trip for them

Mountain Warehouse is currently one of the biggest outdoor retailers offering top quality outdoor clothing and equipment at the lowest prices. Snowsports is a large category for the brand, as is children’s outerwear as a whole/. As part of this partnership, the retailer will be donating a Kids Ski Jacket and Pants Set to each participant who completes the month-long snowboard program, plus an adult set for all staff and volunteers. Additionally, Mountain Warehouse will be off-setting the cost of a weekend trip for the students and staff to Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon, New Jersey.

“Hoods to Woods is a passion project my co-founder Omar Diaz and I started in 2009 to help improve the lives of inner-city children in the Tri-State area,” remarks the organization’s co-founder Brian Paupaw. “I grew up in New York City housing projects and snowboarding has had a tremendously positive impact on my life since. We’re grateful to have Mountain Warehouse as a supporter this year, helping to bring that same impact to these kids.”

Hoods to Woods’ winter programming currently consists of chartering a bus to bring a group of children from the greater New York City area to Mountain Creek Resort each weekend through January, where the youth receive snowboarding lessons, the gear they need, and meals, all free of charge.

Hoods to Woods’ main winter programming happens in January. Each weekend, Hoods to Woods charters a bus to bring a group of children from the greater New York City area to Mountain Creek Resort, where they receive snowboarding lessons, the gear they need, and meals, all free of charge.
