NSB to collect, repair and donate old bags at Sea Otter Classic.

PORTLAND, Ore. — North St. Bags invites anyone attending the 2021 Sea Otter Classic to donate used bags and panniers to low-income Portland residents. Throughout the festival held in Monterey, Calif. October 7-14, 2021 North St. will be collecting used packs and bags at their booth.

After the festival North St. will repair the bags and donate them to the Community Cycling Center, a Portland-based non-profit organization whose mission is to “help build a vibrant community where people of all backgrounds use bicycles to stay healthy and connected.” One of the ways the organization achieves this is by providing bikes and bags to residents as a means of transportation—that’s where the bags come in.

“When we were thinking of ways to help our local community while at Sea Otter in a creative way and the idea of using our skillset as bag-makers came to mind,” says North St. Bags founder Curtis Williams. “We know that we can take even pretty damaged bags, repair them, and turn them into something nice for folks at home. An added benefit we’re giving new life to gear that would otherwise sit unused.”

Here’s how it works:

– Bring your used panniers to our booth (G61) at Sea Otter Classic and trade them for 20% off a new North Street pack. Other bike accessory bags may be traded in for a 10% discount*
– Clean your bag before donating – excessively dirty or stained bags will not be accepted
– Wear and tear is okay! We will be repairing bags before donating.
