SYDNEY, AUS/TAMPA, Fla. (August 17, 2022) – Over 60,000 participants welcomed the return of the City2Surf®, the world’s largest fun run, which took place on August 14 in Sydney, Australia. With 2022 celebrating the 50th physical running of the event, this year’s iteration was also the first physical running of the City2Surf since The IRONMAN Group’s acquisition of the event in 2019.

The global event hosted participants from over 33 countries with the highest representation outside of Australia coming from the United States, Great Britain, Singapore, New Zealand, and France.

Those taking part reveled in the party atmosphere and celebrated every step as they ran, walked, and danced through the 14km course from the Central Business District (CBD) to Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, celebrating the iconic event’s long-awaited return.

“The City2Surf is a unique event in that it is a race featuring all people, from professional runners to families in costumes to casual runners,” said Martin Mashford, Regional Director of The IRONMAN Group Oceania. “Between the stunning course, history of charitable giving, elite field, and opportunity to potentially take part in history by joining in on one of the world’s largest mass participation sporting events, the City2Surf truly has something for everyone and that was clearly demonstrated at the 2022 event.”

With running for charity serving as a key component of the event, participants have raised over $50 million for those in need since 2008.

Registration for next year’s City2Surf will open in March of 2023 with the historic fun run set to take place on Sunday, August 13, 2023. For more information visit www.city2surf.com.au.
