PAKA Launches Women’s Original Crew Sweater, Celebrating International Women’s Month
March 13, 2026

The community-requested alpaca sweater debuts with a women’s-specific fit, and recognizes the artisans, farmers and team members who help bring PAKA garments to life
Boulder, Colorado (March 13, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – In celebration of International Women’s Month, PAKA, a sustainable apparel brand and innovator in alpaca-based clothing, is recognizing the women who power the brand with the launch of the Women’s Original Crew. The highly requested sweater was designed for women and inspired by the stories of the women behind it.
Women contribute to many parts of the PAKA story — from the Quechua artisans in Peru preserving generations-old weaving traditions, to students supported through the PAKA Foundation, to the women helping build the brand in the United States and Peru. Their work and experiences are an important part of the brand’s identity and community.
Recently, PAKA asked the women who shape the brand, across Peru and the U.S., “What are you most proud of?” Their responses speak to resilience, heritage, and personal strength:
“I am proud of knowing how to weave. I am grateful to my parents, the association, CTTC, and Mrs. Nilda, who helped us a lot. I may not have a professional degree, but I do have the skill of weaving.” – Delia, Weaver at Centro De Textiles Tradicionales Del Cusco
“First and foremost, I am proud to be a woman and to be able to achieve my goals through my own effort.” – Marisol, Alpaquera at Pacomarca Alpaca Research and Breeding Farm
“My kids are the thing I’m most proud of. They’re confident, joyful, silly, kind humans — everything I hoped they’d grow into. Parenting stretches me every day, but it’s the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.” – Maddie, PAKA Accounting Manager
These voices represent the women whose craftsmanship, resilience, and leadership are woven into the story of PAKA.
“Investing in women in Peru is a huge part of our mission to uplift the communities where our clothing comes from,” said Gisella Garate, PAKA’s Director of Peru and Impact. “Through the PAKA Foundation, we support 300+ Quechua women weavers through the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco, 7,300+ alpaca-herding families through sustainable incomes and improved alpaca herd health, and 15 young Peruvian women with full university scholarships. Our goal is to support thriving communities in the Andes by investing in education, preserving traditions, and creating sustainable livelihoods, while empowering the next generation.”
PAKA created the Women’s Original Crew in response to strong demand from its community for more women’s-specific styles. Made from PAKA’s royal alpaca fiber, the sweater offers the same softness, warmth, and breathability as the brand’s Original Crew, now designed with an elevated, feminine fit.
The sweater introduces four new colorways designed to complement everyday wear, whether layered for outdoor adventures, travel, or daily life.
The Women’s Original Crew will be available starting March 13 for $159 at www.pakaapparel.com, alongside four new colorways of PAKA’s bestselling Women’s Hoodie.
