Professional Mountain Athlete Ty Andrews to Chase Everest Treadmill World Record in Public Fundraiser at La Sportiva Boulder Store

December 16, 2025

BOULDER, CO (December 16, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Professional mountain athlete Ty Andrews (La Sportiva) will attempt to shatter the world record for fastest time to climb the height of Everest (8,848 meters or 29,029 ft.) on a treadmill at the La Sportiva store in Boulder, Colorado. In his attempt to lower the current 12-hour record, Andrews aims to raise $100,000 for youth athletic programs in Nepal and Ecuador.

Andrews, who holds over 85 mountain speed records including on Manaslu (8,163m), Kilimanjaro (5,895m), and Aconcagua (6,962m), has set world records on treadmills before, including the half marathon run (2014), and 50 kilometer run (2020). This event serves as a critical milestone as he continues his multi-year project to summit the real Mt. Everest without supplemental oxygen in record time.

“This is about pushing human limits while creating opportunities for young athletes who might not otherwise have access to athletic programs,” said Andrews. “Every meter I climb translates directly into empowering kids to learn, grow, and chase their own athletic dreams.”

The La Sportiva store (2100 Broadway, Boulder, CO) will host free public viewing throughout the day Sunday, with a ticketed “Finish & Record Celebration” from 4-6 PM. A Community Fun Run and Q&A with Andrews takes place Saturday, December 20 at 8:30 AM from the store. Fans around the world can follow via free live-streaming and -tracking, which will be available at www.tylercandrews.com/everest during race weekend.

100% of funds raised benefit the Chaski Foundation (501c3), supporting youth athletic programs in Nepal and Ecuador. Donors are entered into raffles for La Sportiva gear and coaching programs, plus a prediction contest for Andrews’ finish time.

Andrews, a childhood cancer survivor, has been running professionally for more than a decade and combines elite athletic performance with coaching, guiding, and philanthropic work supporting youth sports development globally.
