RECCO Rescue Network Grows With Additional Brand Partners and New Lightweight Reflector 742LT

June 6, 2023

Stockholm, Sweden – (June 6, 2023)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – As RECCO continues to expand its year-round rescue ecosystem, more brands are integrating RECCO Technology into their products and increasing overall searchability. RECCO’s global SAR presence also continues to grow, with more RECCO helicopter detectors being deployed year after year.

The RECCO helicopter system is complimented by over 150 brand partners who integrate rescue reflectors into their products. Lightweight, virtually indestructible and with no need for a power source, reflectors add an additional level of searchability and safety for anyone using products equipped with RECCO technology. Some examples include Arc’terx’s new Norvan running jacket (Women’s Norvan Shell coming soon) and Norvan 14 Vest and Jack Wolfskin’s new trekking shoes.

“In partnership with RECCO and with the runner in mind, Arc’teryx has created two new products for summer, the Norvan running jacket and Norvan 14 Vest, both equipped with RECCO rescue technology, a tool to more quickly locate people lost in the outdoors,” said Mitch Eckensweiler, Design Director – Energy Projects / System_A / Mountain Run at Arc’teryx. “During the design process, we worked closely with the team at North Shore Rescue from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Through this partnership, we learned that trail runners and hikers have been increasingly venturing into higher-risk mountain terrain in recent years. As a result, we recognized that our pieces need to provide an increased level of safety, function, and durability for our users venturing into the outdoors, to account for higher-consequence terrain. Incorporating RECCO technology into our apparel reflects our roots in climbing and intentions of products elevating the safety of our users.”

“Our winter trekking boots are perfect for the most demanding missions in rough terrain and exposed tours,” said Selim Say, Vice President of footwear at Jack Wolfskin. “RECCO was the ideal partner for us right from the start because the technology is amazingly efficient in performance and practical in use. With the integration into Jack Wolfskin’s hiking footwear, we give outdoor enthusiasts maximum safety.”

“We carefully select our quality markers and we are very proud of our collaboration with RECCO,” said Bengt Rimark, CEO at Pinewood. “As a team of passionate outdoor enthusiasts, we are well familiar with RECCO and have used the technology many times ourselves at different outdoor activities. With the release of the Abisko pant this summer, we want to give our customers the best experience in the outdoors, at the same time contribute to RECCO’s mission; to make everyone searchable in a safety perspective.”

In addition to the inclusion of reflectors into exciting new products from Arc’terx, Jack Wolfskin, Vado’s Sky Trail kid’s shoe and Pinewood’s Abisko Adventure pants, 2023 sees the introduction of the lightest and most flexible rescue reflector to date. The new 742LT weighs only 1g and is just over 2mm thick.

The introduction of the innovative new 742LT reflector will be helpful for the 150+ partner brands, who now have yet another option when it comes to integrating the unique safety and searchability benefits of RECCO into more products.

“We are really excited to be able to offer reflectors to our brand partners for more categories of their product segments, such as the 742LT made for lighter jackets. More reflectors means more searchable people in the outdoors,“ said Fredrik Steinwall, CEO at RECCO.

The innovative RECCO SAR helicopter detector is essential to the year-round rescue system. Searching from a height of 100 meters and covering a search area of approximately 100 meters wide, the system enables rescuers to search 1km² within 6 minutes.

The RECCO helicopter rescue system aids in fast and efficient search times, simplicity in locating lost or injured victims and the ability to limit risk exposure and time on the ground for physical SAR personnel. The system has been deployed in 31 locations globally (20 Europe/11 North America), with the most recent placement being the Pompièrs Emergéncies S.L.U (ESP).
