Salt Life Announces Partnership with United Row

Leading Ocean Lifestyle Brand Sponsors Athletes Attempting Pacific Rowing World Record

March 15, 2023– Columbus, GA /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Salt Life®, the performance and lifestyle brand for saltwater pursuits of all kinds, is excited to announce its sponsorship of United Row, a rowing team of two best friends attempting to break the world record and become the youngest and fastest pair to row the Pacific Ocean. Aiming to launch out of Monterey Bay, CA in June of 2024, Anna McLean and Jenny D’Anthony of United Row plan to row 2800 nautical miles to Kauai, HI as part of the Atlantic Campaigns Pacific Challenge. The duo will be exposed to harsh elements, battling 60 ft waves, seasickness, and mental and physical fatigue on their arduous journey. The fully self-supported expedition is expected to take around sixty days.

Anna and Jenny have supported each other for years, rowing as teammates on the Clemson University Women’s Varsity Team. From there, they created a bond through their shared love of physical and mental challenges that would propel them to countless mountain summits, spontaneous half marathons, and long days of grueling, type-two fun. Thriving in extreme conditions, the two decided to take on their biggest challenge yet, setting their sights on breaking the record for rowing the Pacific Ocean.

Ocean rowing is nothing new to Anna. In 2019 she completed a world first row across the Atlantic Ocean with her brother Cameron. Known as “The Seablings”, the pair accomplished the expedition in 43 days, 15 hours and 22 minutes.

The pair is aiming to raise over $100,000 to benefit Clemson’s Hear her Roar initiative, which propels the future of female student-athletes. Funds raised will provide scholarships, a nationally acclaimed academic experience, and state-of-the art training facilities and competition venues ensuring success both academically and athletically. Additionally, this program empowers female student-athletes to become leaders in their workplace, family, and community.

United Row is a non-profit organization made up of teammates Anna McLean and Jenny D’Anthony. Anna from the United Kingdom and Jenny from the United States known together as “United Row.” They stand united with each other, their supporters, and their celebrated cause. As they prepare for the world’s toughest row, they hope to help pave the way for other girls and women to pursue their wildest dreams too. The team is currently fundraising for their ocean rowing boat, which will be their home at sea for 60+ days. The 24 ft boat will be equipped with everything they need to survive the journey unsupported – food, desalinator, safety equipment, and solar panels.
