eGrips Founder and Legendary Shaper Aims to Bring Innovation Across all Climbing Categories

Lafayette, CO. (January 13, 2022) – Trango, the award-winning manufacturer and international distributor of technical climbing equipment, is thrilled to announce Ty Foose as their new Director of Product. As one of the original founders of the popular climbing hold brand eGrips, acquired by Trango in 2002, Foose’s extensive experience will be vital as the brand continues to expand innovation upon all product ranges from sport, trad, gym, bouldering, to alpine climbing.

A pivotal part of Trango and eGrip’s journey as head shaper for the past 20 years, Foose lends his unmistakable style and artistic ability to all his designs. Foose’s signature holds have established themselves as an integral part to any climbing gym, home gym, or World Cup competition.

“For the past two decades, Trango gear has been with me on countless climbing adventures in dozens of countries.  I’ve used, abused, and admired their ropes, cams, harnesses, biners, packs, and whatever else made the ascent possible,” said Foose.  “My journey as a climber, and as a climbing hold shaper, has long been supported by the incredible staff at Trango. Today, I’m super excited to join their legacy of passionate innovation and have the opportunity to contribute my 30+ years of experience in designing cutting-edge climbing products.”

As the brand moves forward, Trango seeks to renew its emphasis on indoor and facility-based operations while also capitalizing on its current momentum in outdoor categories.

“Ty brings a wealth of experience in the gym and bouldering markets along with advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, allowing Trango to expand our offering of innovative products designed to improve the climbing experience and support climbers wherever their vertical journey leads them,” said Chris Klinke, President of Trango President.

As Foose steps into his new role as Director of Product, Trango is confident that he will continue to contribute his knowledge and experience as they create innovative products trusted by climbers inside and out.
