TransRockies Singletrack 6 Mountain Bike Stage Race Returns in 2020

6-Day Stage Race highlights the best trail networks in Western Canada

CALGARY, ALBERTA] – With the 2019 mountain biking season well underway, TransRockies Race Series has announced new dates and locations for its 2020 flagship stage race, TransRockies Singletrack 6.  The event returned to its original epic format, TransRockies Classic, in 2019. For 2020 the Singletrack 6 will once again take centre stage with 6 days of racing the Kootenay Rockies region of Southeastern British Columbia.

For the first time, TransRockies will operate the event in June. With the earlier date, the organizers look to avoid smoke from wildfires, dusty dry conditions, and to provide more benefit the tourism industry in host communities. The race will run from June 8-13, 2020 with two stages each in Fernie, Kimberley and Rossland, British Columbia. The event offers 6-day and 3-day options for riders.

TransRockies started in 2002 with the TransRockies Challenge stage race. In 2014 the format was changed to the Singletrack 6, focussing on the best mountain biking trails around authentic BC mountain communities. In 2019, the original format is returning for one year with the TransRockies Classic Stage Race July 22-28. This year’s event will feature an epic point-to-point crossing of the Rockies on trails, remote tracks, and forest roads, with daily distances up to 100km. Tent camps will be located at the end of each stage where amenities such as catered meals, hot showers, bike mechanics and massage therapists will be waiting to help riders recover and prepare for the next day.

With a field limit of 300 riders, Singletrack 6 attracts riders from over 15 countries every year. The focus of the event is marathon cross country loops on the best local trail networks. Riders have the opportunity to experience the host communities as well as the local environment. Registration for the 2020 TransRockies Singletrack 6 opened today.
