Velnox Tarsier – your headtorch alternative

October 16, 2018

A revolutionary new lighting device for all your night activities and adventures - a great alternative to headlamps and torches!

Just when you thought the options for wearable night lights, like headlamps and torches, couldn’t possibly expand, along comes the Velnox Tarsier. The Tarsier is a chest-worn, LED panel light, that produces a broad light field – to provide the wearer with a floodlight type light field.

Perfect for any application where you need a broad light field right in front of you, like walking, camping, hiking, fishing or running. The Tarsier can also act as a complement to headlamps, and given they occupy different areas of your body, this is a real advantage.

Some of the key statistics are a maximum output of 200 Lumens, powered by 3 AAA batteries, a visible light range out to 25-30 meters, an IPX4 rating (water resistant), and a maximum battery life of 5 hours.

The team at Velnox have identified improved comfort and functionality as key reasons for developing the Tarsier. No more heavy battery packs on the head, and good quality elastic straps that fit like a glove, replacing those uncomfortable straps on the head. With the broad light field, the need to have a beam that moves with your head is no longer, and you now get to use your peripheral vision at night. Another advantage is a simple choice of light settings – full power, half power and off. The Tarsier comes with a big button that is easy to locate while moving, so no more fiddling with small buttons, or toggling through options you don’t need.

Velnox is a start-up company, developing a range of products to improve our ability to enjoy the outdoors at night.  We are launching our first product, the Tarsier, on KickStarter. The Tarsier was named after that capable primate that has eyes like dishpans, and can see expertly at night.
