Vermont Huts Association Rebrands as Vermont Huts & Trails
May 20, 2025

New Name Reflects Growing Focus
Waterbury, VT (May 20, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — Vermont Huts Association, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to outdoor recreation through their network of backcountry huts, is excited to announce its rebrand to Vermont Huts & Trails. This change reflects the organization’s growing efforts and partnership with Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA) to build the Velomont—a hut-supported, multi-use bike trail that aims to connect Vermont communities from Massachusetts to Canada.
The name change also reflects the organization’s continued commitment to developing outdoor recreation in Vermont with a focus on conservation and access equality. As their network of ADA-accessible accommodations grows, so does the need for adaptive-friendly trails, as well as building them sustainably and responsibly.
“We believe outdoor adventure should be inclusive,” said RJ Thompson, Executive Director of Vermont Huts & Trails. “That’s why we’re designing trails and huts that are welcoming to everyone—from lifelong backcountry explorers to first-time visitors using adaptive equipment.”
With this renewed identity, Vermont Huts & Trails will continue working toward a future where communities across the state are connected by a world-class, sustainable network of trails and huts—one that strengthens local economies, fosters stewardship, and invites everyone into the outdoors.
