Wondery Kicks Off First Climb With Pride Fundraiser Event

July 18, 2022

Over 200 Attendees Turn Up to Support LGBTQ+ Community and Brave Trails

July 18th, Los Angeles, CA /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Wondery, the sustainable outdoor lifestyle brand dedicated to liberating women in the outdoors, launched its first Climb With Pride fundraiser event to celebrate Pride month and support LGBTQ+ communities. Over 200 attendees celebrated with Wondery on June 25th at The Post, a Touchstone climbing gym in Pasadena. The event raised over $2400 for Brave Trails, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ youth leadership.

Wondery’s primary mission is to empower women in the outdoors through awareness, resources, and creation of a truly inclusive outdoor community. Through their event series, Wondery is creating safe and inclusive spaces for people that do not traditionally have access to the outdoors, often extending offers for low-cost, discounted or free community events.

Wondery hosted the Climb With Pride fundraiser to contribute to Brave Trails, raising funds for their permanent hub in Santa Clarita, California, close to Wondery’s headquarters. Alongside leading industry brands sponsoring the event including Patagonia, REI, and Cotopaxi, $2400 was raised, with 100% of the proceeds going to Brave Trails. The event featured an LGBTQ+ owned marketplace with food truck vendors and apparel to further promote and support local queer-owned businesses.

“We believe in being an ally to minority groups because the outdoors should be for everyone,” said Kim Esliza, Wondery CEO. “Our Climb with Pride Fundraiser was one of the most memorable events Wondery has hosted yet. Despite the multiple challenges we’re facing throughout minority communities, it’s refreshing to know that we still have a vast and safe community that we can go to for comfort and support while sharing our common love of climbing.  We’re constantly inspired after every event we hold for our communities, and we look forward to continually growing this movement, through our brand and through more events in the future.”

Wondery is hosting a Desert Oasis Retreat in Joshua Tree in October, a weekend trip filled with climbing, hiking and relaxation at a cost far below the industry standard. In their ongoing mission to empower all women outdoors and provide access, Wondery offers an extra discount to those from low-income households.
