X Games are staying in Colorado for 3 more years
June 11, 2026
The X Games has extended its partnership with Aspen Snowmass for three more years, keeping the Winter X Games League at Buttermilk Mountain through the 2028-2029 winter season. This agreement ensures Colorado will remain a regular stop on the X Games League circuit for the next three seasons, continuing a relationship that has now spanned 25 consecutive years.
The newly expanded X Games League will kick off its first winter season in January 2027, with Buttermilk serving as one of three venues for the competition. The partnership also includes plans to develop both summer and winter seasons of the X Games, expanding the event’s presence beyond just winter action sports.
This extension marks a significant milestone in action sports history, celebrating a quarter-century of the X Games at Aspen since the event first moved to Buttermilk Mountain. The games traditionally bring over 100,000 fans annually to the Roaring Fork Valley, creating substantial economic impact for the local community. 9news
