ZipFit Launches Espresso Touring Liner
February 4, 2026

Designed with a single mission: make the best touring liner possible without sacrificing fit or downhill performance.
Carbondale, CO (February 4, 2026) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – ZipFit, the industry leader in customizable ski boot liners, today announced the launch of the ZipFit Espresso, a purpose-built touring liner designed for long missions, high alpine expeditions, and modern lightweight alpine touring boots.
In an industry increasingly focused on shaving grams at the expense of fit and durability, ZipFit took a different approach with Espresso: prioritize fit first, then optimize weight.
“In a world dominated by gram counting, we wanted to make sure the fit of the Espresso came first,” said product designer Jeff Colt. “We didn’t skimp on the amount of OMfit cork, we worked with our fifty testers and fine-tuned it for touring and downhill performance. You’ll notice how excellent the Espresso feels while weighing half of a standard ZipFit.”
The Espresso is designed to pair best with modern touring boots in the ~1000–1250g weight category, delivering the warmth, customization, and downhill performance ZipFit is known for at a touring-friendly weight of 320g in a size 26.5.
The impetus for this project came from ZipFit athletes who wanted a touring liner that would dry out on expeditions. After extensive material testing, Ultralon foam dried quickly and saved some weight over neoprene and microfiber. While engineered with closed-cell foam, Espresso retains the core elements that define ZipFit liners: customizable cork-based fit system around the ankles and through the tongue, asymmetrical tongue design, and flexible toe box for natural foot splay.
The result is a liner that balances uphill efficiency with downhill precision; a rare combination in the touring category. Key features include:
- Flexalon toe box that heat-molds and stretches to accommodate forefoot width while drying quickly for multi-day trips.
- Moccasin toe box and tongue integration to reduce seams over the instep.
- Rear flex panels and articulation points for natural fore/aft flex while touring.
- Two-directional stretch Kevlar cuff pocket with an included 5mm HDPE volume reducer, eliminating friction with walk mechanisms and functional for lace-storage.
- Plastic tongue shield and abrasion-resistant Lycra stone face fabric for high-wear touring environments.
- Included 3mm insole shim and 5mm cuff shim for further customization.
Among the athletes and professionals that helped guide the development of the Espresso, we’ve received great feedback on the final version:
“The best all around touring liner ever made. A liner this light shouldn’t have the downhill performance it does, but somehow it’s as good on the up as the down. Despite its thinness it’s incredibly warm and breathable, far superior to any other liner I’ve skied. The customization of cork with the tongue and heel pockets adds an incredible fit and heel hold. I can’t say there is anything I’d want added or taken away. It’s got the performance of the GFT but the weight of a light touring liner—the do-it-all liner.” – Cody Townsend

The ZipFit Espresso is available in sizes 21.5–31.5 starting February 3, 2026 through ZipFit and authorized retailers worldwide.
