2022 B.A.S.I.C.S Campaign Focused on Collisions High Fives Foundation Celebrates 12th Year Promoting Mountain Safety

December 13, 2022

TRUCKEE, CA /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 2022 initiative for the High Fives Foundation’s B.A.S.I.C.S (Being Aware and Safe in Critical Situations) campaign is focused on collisions. The B.A.S.I.C.S program has been running for twelve years and helps to prevent injuries on the mountain with different campaign themes each year.

The 2022 B.A.S.I.C.S video, narrated by Olympic gold medalist and iconic freestyle skier Jonny Moseley, follows skiers Amie and Kyle as they explore all the different ways skiers and snowboarders can experience collisions on the mountain.

The light-hearted public service announcement covers what collisions on the mountain look like whether they are person to person, person to object, or person to nature. The video goes on to feature a ski patroller, Ben Stone, and Sherry McConkey explaining that collisions can happen to anyone, anywhere and how important it is to follow signage.

The B.A.S.I.C.S program has a long history of educating young and old skiers and snowboarders on how to recreate safely in the mountains. The Collisions video will be featured on the B.A.S.I.C.S webpage and on the High Fives Foundation’s video and social media platforms. The Foundation is also available to present the video and its message to schools, groups, orientations, and more.

Sponsors of the 2022 B.A.S.I.C.S video include National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), PistenBully, Ski California, Colorado Ski Country, Ski Utah, Ski West Virginia, Skiing Wisconsin, Ski Vermont, Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA), Intermountain Ski Areas Association (ISAA), Minnesota Ski Areas Association, Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association, Ski PA, Ski NH, Midwest Ski Areas Association, Mountain Guard, and the National Ski Patrol.

“This program was established to create a smarter decision making process for those that view and take away the lessons of these videos” says Roy Tuscany, CEO of High Fives Foundation “After 10 years of creating safety messaging, we are excited to share a new approach to teaching, learning, and absorbing the information to prevent the next collision”
