7mesh Applies a Decade of Cycling Expertise to its Explore Collection

April 9, 2026

Technical apparel built for high-output days in the mountains

Squamish, BC, April 9, 2026 — 7mesh, the Squamish-based apparel brand best known for its technical cycling gear, is putting a spotlight on the Explore Collection – lightweight outdoor apparel engineered for athletes who move through mountain terrain with speed and intent. Drawing on more than a decade of designing for high-output cycling, every piece in the collection is purpose-built for a light-and-fast approach to backcountry travel.

Cycling pushes apparel to its limits in ways few other sports do. You can spend an hour climbing at full effort, then hit an exposed ridge where wind and temperature change everything. Designing apparel that handles that range takes time to get right. 7mesh has been focused on that problem since 2013, when former Arc’teryx CEO Tyler Jordan, and designer Ian Martin, set out to see how much further they could push technical apparel with a smaller, more agile team.

In that time, it became clear that clothing built to handle cycling’s demands could inform apparel for other challenging mountain activities. Managing heat, blocking wind, and staying mobile aren’t unique cycling problems. They’re mountain problems. Now 7mesh has started applying their high-speed expertise to the full range of what mountain athletes do.

“Cycling taught us to solve hard problems in performance apparel, and when you get the fundamentals right, that knowledge translates,” said Tyler Jordan, President and Co-Founder of 7mesh. “Most of our customers don’t think in categories. They ride, hike, run or ski, then head back out the next day. The Explore collection reflects that reality.”

The Explore Collection

This spring, the Explore Collection includes the new Northwoods Jacket – a lightweight, highly breathable wind layer built for high-output days in the mountains. Unlike traditional windshells, the Northwoods is constructed with an air-permeable fabric that shields against wind while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape.

“The design challenges don’t change much whether you’re on the bike or above the treeline,” said Ian Martin, VP of Product and Co-Founder of 7mesh. “You’re managing output, dealing with weather, and you need to move freely. Explore is about applying everything we’ve learned about fit, protection and breathability to a broader set of conditions and doing it better for all activities and all conditions.”

The line also includes the full Guardian Collection – the Guardian Apex Jacket, Guardian Air Jacket and Guardian Apex Pant. Among the lightest and most packable waterproof shells on the market, all three are constructed with Gore-Tex ePE and designed for demanding movement in unpredictable mountain weather.
