Sweating For Species Protection

The International Snow Leopard Day is Back March 7-8, 2026
/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Climb high, protect snow leopards: after a two-year break, the legendary DYNAFIT International Snow Leopard Day is making a big comeback. The weekend of March 7/8, 2026 is all about the endangered wildcat. Ski tourers and, for the first time, also trail runners can put their passion for the sport to good use and collect elevation meters together for the protection of the snow leopard. For every elevation meter climbed, DYNAFIT will donate a cent to the Snow Leopard Trust. The organization has been committed to the preservation of the rare wildcat for over 40 years and has long been a dedicated partner of DYNAFIT. This year, 14 countries are participating with national ski touring or trail running events that invite people to join. Those who prefer to go solo can simply collect their elevation meters themselves and document them via GPS.
The idea behind the Snow Leopard Day
“Speedup for the protection of the snow leopard” – under this motto, people will sweat together on the weekend of March 7/8. The calculation is quite simple: The more the participants give it their all, the higher the donation amount. New this year: For the first time, the Snow Leopard Day is not just a ski touring event, but trail runners are also invited to participate. A total of 14 official locations have already been confirmed, including Austria, Italy, the USA, Spain, and the Czech Republic. On site, there’s DYNAFIT test equipment available for rent, as well as a supporting program with music and food to keep the motivation and good vibes going. Those who cannot attend the events have the opportunity to document their elevation gain from March 7 and 8, 2026 using GPS and submit it via a form on the DYNAFIT website by March 8 at 18:00 (CET). Every meter of elevation you complete also contributes a cent to the total proceeds.
“The Snow Leopard Day is an absolute passion project for us. Sport, passion, and purpose come together – sweating for every meter of elevation, testing limits together, and protecting the snow leopard in the process. The concept fits us perfectly as an athlete brand. I’m really excited that the Snow Leopard Day is finally back after a short break, and that we can contribute to the protection of our symbol animal,” Alexander Nehls, Marketing Director DYNAFIT.

Donation project 2026: Frozen Peaks
This year’s Int. Snow Leopard Day supports the project “Frozen Peaks: Protecting the Snow Leopard’s Glaciers” by the Snow Leopard Trust. Together with international partners, the initiative is committed to protecting the high mountain ecosystems in southern Kyrgyzstan and preserving the habitat of the endangered snow leopard. One focus is on the protection of glaciers, which are essential for the regional water supply. The donations help to translate scientific findings into new legal foundations for glacier protection and to advance important conservation measures in the Pamir-Alay mountain range.
About the Snow Leopard Trust:
Since 1981, the organization Snow Leopard Trust, based in Seattle, has been trying to protect the existing population and is committed to researching the endangered big cat. The habitat of the snow leopard is becoming increasingly smaller. Studies estimate the population of wild snow leopards at 3,500 animals. Illegal hunting, climate change, and the destruction of its habitat are increasingly threatening the snow leopard. The organization runs projects in China, India, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Pakistan. It researches the endangered snow leopard and, in collaboration with the local communities in the mountain regions, strengthens the animal’s habitat. DYNAFIT identifies with this graceful animal and has set itself the goal of sustainably supporting snow leopards as a partner of the association. The long-standing partnership with the Snow Leopard Trust is part of DYNAFIT’s CSR commitment, which the brand expands year after year.
