June 6, 2017

Events in California, New Hampshire and Oregon provide women outdoor experiences, inspiration and adventures

LAUSANNE, Switzerland – June 6, 2017 – LifeStraw®, a global leader in developing innovative filtration and purification products, today announced it will be the official filtration partner of the REI Outessa events, three-day adventures connecting women with the outdoors in a supportive learning environment. The series incorporates activities, inspiration and education on coveted gear and products along with great food and wine in an ideal environment for making new friends and lasting memories. Registration is now open at www.REI.com/Outessa.

LifeStraw will provide water and hydration filters, while educating and hosting product demonstrations for nearly 1,000 women attending REI Outessa retreats this summer.  This fall, LifeStraw will introduce an expanded product portfolio including the LifeStraw Flex, a two-stage filter that meets NSF-53 standards, the national requirement for filtration systems designed to reduce specific health-related contaminants, including lead; LifeStraw Play, a 15-ounce bottle with an integrated filter ideal for kids; and LifeStraw Universal, a cap adapter kit that turns almost any water bottle into an instant water filter. Based on availability, registered attendees will have the opportunity to test these new products.

“Supporting the second annual Outessa retreat series enables us to educate a larger audience of women about the technology advancements LifeStraw is making and how those fit into everyday life,” said Alison Hill, managing director for LifeStraw. “We are honored to be a part of this celebration that encourages women to enjoy the outdoors, and to have the opportunity to share best practices for hydrating safely in unfamiliar environments.”

“Last year, REI Outessa was a transformational experience for hundreds of women. We are excited that LifeStraw has signed on to share its important messaging regarding safe, convenient hydration. Together with LifeStraw, we will help women tap into an emotional and profound connection to nature in her journey to live a life outside,” said Sally Johnson, the events manager for REI who helped create the Outessa series.
